From mid-August, American Airlines will introduce a new feature enabling travellers to register for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID directly within the online check-in process. This change aims to simplify access to the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) biometric identification programme, which permits vetted PreCheck members to clear security by photo verification without presenting a physical boarding pass or identification. Addressing Prior Registration Hurdles
Previously, using TSA PreCheck Touchless ID required travellers to register in advance via each airline's website. This involved logging into an airline profile, navigating to personal information sections, uploading a passport image, and then opting into the biometric system. American Airlines' update means passengers who may forget to register ahead of time can now do so conveniently just before their flight, though a passport will still be necessary for the registration details.
