Privacy Policy.
Global Travel Post is published by Asia Press Centre Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202625793W) of 470 North Bridge Road #05-12 Bugis Cube, Singapore 188735. We operate from Singapore and handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). Where readers in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom are concerned, we also have regard to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you subscribe to a newsletter, we collect your email address. When you write to us (editorial, contributions or partnerships) we collect your name, contact details and the content of your message. When you register for an event, we collect the details you provide on the relevant form.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect usage data: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not collect payment card details on this site.
Why we use it
We use personal data to deliver the newsletters you have asked for; to respond to your messages; to operate, secure and improve the site; to administer events, contributions and commercial relationships; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data. Under the GDPR, our legal bases are consent (newsletters, non-essential cookies), legitimate interests (running and improving a publication, responding to enquiries) and legal obligation.
Cookies
We currently set no tracking cookies. The only thing we store in your browser is your answer to the cookie banner, so we do not ask again. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. If we later add analytics, the banner will ask before anything non-essential is set, this page will name the provider, and your choice will remain changeable at any time.
Third-party processors
We keep this list short and name what we use. Site content and images are served through Supabase, our hosting and storage provider. Newsletter addresses you give us are stored in our own database; when we appoint an email delivery provider we will name it here before we start using it. We do not currently run third-party analytics on this site, and we do not share personal data with advertisers or data brokers. Every processor we appoint is bound by contract to protect your data and use it only for the service it provides us. Because some providers operate outside Singapore, your data may be transferred internationally; where it is, we require protections consistent with the PDPA and, for EEA and UK data, with GDPR transfer rules.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, and we set outer limits rather than keeping data indefinitely. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, and addresses that have not opened an email for 24 months are removed. Correspondence is kept for 12 months from the last exchange unless it forms part of a contract. Records connected to commercial agreements are kept for five years after the agreement ends, in line with Singapore record-keeping requirements.
Your rights
Under the PDPA you may ask for access to your personal data, ask us to correct it, and withdraw consent to its use. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you additionally have rights under the GDPR to erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link that works with one click.
