Singapore Airlines Commences Madrid Service

Singapore Airlines (SIA) began scheduled flights to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on 27 October 2026, marking the Spanish capital as its 15th European destination. The inaugural flight departed Madrid-Barajas at 10:00 local time, making an operational stopover in Barcelona before continuing non-stop to Singapore Changi International Airport.

According to the airline's schedule, the aircraft was set to land in Singapore at 08:25 the following day. This new service operates five times weekly via Barcelona, aiming to cater to business and leisure travel demand between Spain and the Asia-Pacific region.

Kevin Lee, SIA's General Manager for Spain and Portugal, stated the route establishes a direct connection between Madrid and the Singapore hub, opening a key connection point to destinations across Asia-Pacific.

Global Connectivity and Aircraft Deployment

The new route provides travellers from central Spain with convenient transfers across the SIA Group network via its Singapore hub. This includes connections to Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Malaysia.

Travellers also gain access to key gateways in Australia and New Zealand within the Southwest Pacific, and to North Asian destinations including Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and mainland China. Singapore Airlines has deployed an Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the Madrid route.

This widebody jet is configured in a three-class layout, accommodating a total of 253 passengers: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class, and 187 in Economy Class. The carrier provides international and regional dining selections across all cabin classes.

Promotional Fares for Asia-Pacific Travel

To mark the launch, Singapore Airlines has introduced promotional Economy Class fares for departures from Madrid to selected markets. These special fares are available for booking from 27 October through 9 November 2026, via the airline's official website and partner travel agencies.

The travel periods for these offers are valid from 10 January to 19 March 2027, and from 29 March to 13 June 2027. Promotional roundtrip fares to Southeast Asian destinations, including Singapore, Bali, Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap, and Krabi, start from EUR 618.

For Australian cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide, all-inclusive roundtrip fares begin from EUR 988.

Strengthening European-Asian Travel Links

The introduction of these five weekly frequencies significantly strengthens Singapore Airlines' presence in the Iberian Peninsula, integrating Madrid-Barajas into its main European network ahead of the 2027 scheduling season.

For Asian travellers and operators, this new route means enhanced connectivity to Spain and wider Europe, potentially driving increased tourism and business exchanges. The direct link provides a more convenient option for those travelling from Singapore and other Asia-Pacific cities, reducing overall travel times and simplifying itineraries.

This expansion reflects a strategic move by SIA to deepen its global network, offering more options for passengers connecting through its Changi hub to and from European markets.
