Thailand Boosts Tourist Safety with Multilingual Assistance
The Tourist Police Bureau now offers 24-hour support via its 1155 hotline, providing services in eight languages, alongside a dedicated mobile application for visitors.

Enhanced Visitor Support Unveiled
Thailand's Tourist Police Bureau announced an expansion of its assistance programmes for international and Chinese visitors, focusing on comprehensive information, travel support, and coordinated responses during emergencies.
Pol Lt Gen Pongsayam Meekanthong, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, stated on Thursday, 22 October 2026, that these improvements aim to ensure travellers can easily contact officers and receive timely, appropriate help for their specific situations.
This initiative reflects a strategic push to reinforce visitor confidence and safety across the country's tourism sector, responding directly to the needs of a growing global tourist base.
Policy-Driven Safety Initiatives
The enhancement aligns with directives from both the Thai government and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which prioritise making Thailand a secure and trusted travel destination. It also supports the broader policy of Pol Gen Samran Nuanma, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, to strengthen police services and improve safety for both residents and tourists.
Pol Lt Gen Pongsayam confirmed that the Tourist Police are ready to collaborate with various entities, including other Royal Thai Police agencies and the Immigration Bureau, to deliver integrated support, from providing initial information to coordinating responses for visitors facing issues during their journeys. This multi-agency approach ensures a more robust and unified safety net for all.
Multilingual Contact Channels
To overcome potential communication barriers for its diverse visitor demographic, the Tourist Police Bureau is actively promoting its round-the-clock Tourist Police Hotline, 1155. This service offers immediate assistance in eight distinct languages, catering to a wide array of international travellers.
The supported languages include English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, French, German, and Hindi. Beyond telephone support, travellers can also utilise the official Thailand Tourist Police application on their mobile devices to conveniently report incidents or request help, providing an additional digital avenue for support.
The bureau strongly encourages all foreign visitors to familiarise themselves with these accessible channels before or during their stay in Thailand.
Advice for Travellers and Future Outlook
For the most effective and swift assistance, the Tourist Police Bureau advises visitors to commit the 1155 hotline number to memory. When making contact, travellers are urged to provide clear and precise details about their exact location and the nature of the incident they are encountering.
This crucial information enables officers to coordinate an appropriate and timely response, ensuring help arrives where and when it is most needed.
The bureau reiterated its ongoing commitment to working closely with all relevant agencies to continue providing essential information and support to Chinese and other international visitors, thereby upholding safety standards and fostering sustained confidence in Thailand's dynamic tourism industry for years to come.
