Leadership Transition Confirmed

Choice Hotels International’s board of directors has officially appointed Dominic Dragisich as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. This leadership change took effect on August 31, 2026. Mr. Dragisich had previously held the role of interim CEO for the preceding three months, starting May 20, 2026.

His appointment follows the departure of former CEO Patrick Pacious, who remained an advisor to Choice Hotels until August 31, 2026. The company did not provide a reason for Mr. Pacious’s exit. This confirmation concludes a thorough search process undertaken by the board to identify the new chief executive.

Extensive Company Tenure

Mr. Dragisich brings nearly a decade of experience within Choice Hotels to his new position. His tenure includes serving as chief growth and strategy officer, as well as chief financial officer. Stewart Bainum Jr., chairman of Choice’s board of directors, commented on Mr. Dragisich’s performance.

He stated that during his interim period, Mr. Dragisich advanced strategic priorities and cultivated a performance-focused culture across the organisation. Mr. Bainum noted Mr. Dragisich’s innovative approach, dedication to talent development, and clear understanding of the business’s future direction. The board’s selection followed a comprehensive evaluation of both internal and external candidates.

Strategic Mandate and Growth Outlook

As CEO, Mr. Dragisich will focus on building on the company’s current momentum. His mandate includes delivering on strategic objectives and driving long-term value for franchisees and stakeholders. Choice Hotels stated that Mr. Dragisich has significantly contributed to the company’s expansion over the years.

He led major acquisitions and propelled key strategic initiatives forward. Before joining Choice Hotels, Mr. Dragisich held senior finance and operational positions at Marriott International. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the company.

He noted Choice Hotels enters this new chapter from a position of strength, citing a high-quality portfolio and a diverse pipeline.

Future Direction and Market Focus

Mr. Dragisich’s leadership will prioritise disciplined execution and accelerating growth. He aims to strengthen the company’s brands by leveraging commercial investments. During its second-quarter earnings call earlier this month, Choice Hotels revised its full-year U.S. RevPAR outlook upwards. The company also increased its global net rooms growth projections.

Choice Hotels identified conversions and the extended stay category as primary drivers for its expansion. This focus suggests continued investment in these segments, which could influence future development and partnership strategies for the hotel group and its franchisees.
