Fuji Dream Airlines Adds Two Embraer E175s to Fleet for Japan Regional Network
Fuji Dream Airlines has placed a firm order for two Embraer E175 aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028. The new jets will support the Japanese carrier's regional network with 84-seat configurations.
Fleet Expansion for Domestic Operations
Fuji Dream Airlines (FDA) has confirmed an order for two Embraer E175 aircraft, with deliveries anticipated in 2027 and 2028. The announcement was made at the Farnborough Airshow on July 23, 2026, and the order is already part of Embraer's official backlog, as reported by TTG Asia. These additions will bolster FDA's regional fleet, which currently operates 15 Embraer E-Jets, specifically two E170s and 13 E175s. The new aircraft are designed to support the airline's high-frequency operations and shorter routes across its domestic network within Japan.
Aircraft Configuration and Suitability
Each new Embraer E175 will feature an 84-seat, single-class layout. This configuration is well-suited for FDA's operational model, focusing on regional connectivity throughout Japan. The E175 model is known for its efficiency on shorter routes, aligning with the airline's strategy for domestic air travel. This purchase extends FDA's long-standing relationship with the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer; the airline has operated Embraer aircraft since it commenced services in 2009.
Operational Reliability and Future Impact
Embraer states that Fuji Dream Airlines' existing fleet has maintained an average schedule reliability exceeding 99.8 per cent over the past 12 months. This operational performance underpins the continued investment in Embraer aircraft. The addition of these two E175s will directly increase Fuji Dream Airlines' capacity for domestic travel across Japan. This expansion supports the airline's regional network strategy, potentially enabling the launch of new routes or increased flight frequencies on existing services from 2027. For travellers, this translates to more options and greater availability for intra-Japan air travel, enhancing connectivity within the country.
