New Earning and Redemption Opportunities

Hilton Honors members are now able to earn and redeem loyalty points on Explora Journeys cruises when reservations are made via Hilton. This expansion of the existing collaboration between the hospitality group and the luxury cruise line was reported by TTG Asia on 23 July 2026. Members booking eligible sailings through Hilton will earn 10 base points for every US$1 spent on cruise fares. They can also apply points towards future voyages and receive a five per cent reduction on Explora Journeys fares. Furthermore, these eligible bookings contribute towards Hilton Honors elite status progression.

Tiered Benefits and Global Reach

Additional benefits are available based on a member's Hilton Honors tier. Gold members will gain access to a welcome cocktail event hosted by Explora Journeys’ ship leadership. Diamond members will receive supplementary Journey Experience Credits. Diamond Reserve members are also eligible for a behind-the-scenes bridge tour, subject to availability, and private port transfers. This partnership extends Hilton Honors benefits across Explora Journeys' global cruise itineraries, which include destinations such as the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland, North America's East Coast, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Fleet Development and Programme Context

Explora Journeys currently operates Explora I and Explora II. Explora III is scheduled to commence service on July 24, 2026, with Explora IV following in early 2027. Explora V and Explora VI are anticipated to join the fleet in 2027 and 2028, respectively. The collaboration was initially announced in late 2025 as part of the Hilton Honors Adventures programme, designed to provide members with access to travel activities beyond traditional hotel accommodation. Mark Weinstein, Hilton’s chief marketing officer and head of luxury brands, highlighted the programme’s aim to give members new ways to plan their travel and utilise points, alongside distinct perks.

Implications for Travellers and Industry

For travellers, this partnership creates a new avenue for leveraging Hilton Honors points and status within the luxury cruise market, potentially making high-end cruise travel more accessible or rewarding for loyal Hilton guests. It also diversifies the redemption options available to members, moving beyond traditional hotel stays. From an industry perspective, this represents a significant expansion of a major hotel loyalty programme into the cruise sector. It demonstrates a trend towards cross-sector loyalty integration, which may prompt other hospitality groups to explore similar partnerships to retain and attract high-value customers.
