MyBHA Secures Thai Partnerships for Visit Malaysia 2026
The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) signed three agreements with Thai tourism and business groups on July 24, 2026, aiming to increase tourist arrivals and strengthen bilateral industry ties ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.

Bilateral Tourism Boost
The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) formalised three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with key Thai tourism and business organisations on July 24, 2026. These agreements, signed during the Visit Malaysia 2026 Seminar & Networking Session in Bangkok, organised by Tourism Malaysia Bangkok, seek to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand. The primary objective is to support the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign by fostering new business avenues and increasing visitor numbers, according to a report by TTG Asia.
Key Collaborators and Objectives
The three Thai entities entering into these partnerships are the Thai Travel Agents Association, the Thai Medical and Wellness Tourism Association, and CHG Global Organization. MyBHA president Sri Ganesh Michiel stated that these collaborations establish a long-term framework for mutual growth. The agreements aim to connect MyBHA member hotels with Thai travel agencies, thereby establishing Malaysian budget and business hotels as favoured accommodation choices for Thai visitors. Reciprocal advantages are also envisioned for Malaysian travellers visiting Thailand.
Joint Initiatives for Growth
Under the terms of the MoUs, the participating organisations will engage in various joint initiatives. These include tourism exchanges, business networking events, coordinated promotional activities, participation in exhibitions and conferences, and sharing of market intelligence. The collaborations also encompass research and advocacy efforts, alongside programmes designed to support the sustainable expansion of the tourism and hospitality sectors in both nations. Michiel emphasised that the contemporary tourism sector necessitates strategic alliances over isolated efforts to foster mutual economic growth, TTG Asia reported.
Implications for Industry and Travellers
For the travel industry, these agreements demonstrate a concerted effort to deepen Malaysia-Thailand tourism links, potentially driving increased bookings and cross-border investment leading up to and during Visit Malaysia 2026. Travellers, particularly from Thailand, can anticipate more streamlined access and potentially more tailored accommodation options in Malaysia, while Malaysian travellers may see similar benefits when planning trips to Thailand. The focus on budget and business hotels suggests a targeted approach to specific market segments, aiming to broaden the appeal of both destinations.
