V Capri Palm Springs Joins HQ Hotels

V Capri Palm Springs, a 143-room Dolce by Wyndham hotel in California, has joined SBE Entertainment Group’s HQ Hotels & Residences collection, according to Hotel Dive on July 22, 2026. The property will continue to operate under the Dolce by Wyndham brand but is set for a multimillion-dollar upgrade. This renovation aims to introduce new restaurant brands, revamped guest amenities, and curated programming to align the hotel with the HQ Hotels concept, which SBE launched in early 2024 through a partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. This move expands SBE’s presence in Southern California, adding to its existing hotel footprint.

Phased Renovation Introduces New Dining

The renovation of V Capri Palm Springs will occur in phases, impacting guest rooms, public spaces, and the food and beverage offerings, Hotel Dive reported. Later this year, Umami Pool is scheduled to open as an adults-only, day-to-night venue featuring food, cocktails, and entertainment. In early 2027, the current Gigi’s Restaurant will transition into Katsuya Ko, SBE’s Pan-Asian dining concept. Sam Nazarian, SBE’s founder, chairman, and CEO, stated that the project builds on the hotel’s existing character with SBE’s creative and detailed approach, aiming for a fresh feel while retaining its unique qualities.

Global Expansion Plans for HQ Hotels

The Palm Springs property follows The Monarch Hotel in New Orleans, which also joined the HQ Hotels & Residences portfolio earlier this year. The 'smart lifestyle' brand, which includes celebrity partner Marc Anthony, launched with the objective of providing a more accessible lifestyle hotel option, as HQ Hotels President Mike Metcalf previously informed Hotel Dive. SBE is targeting 50 hotels worldwide for the HQ Hotels & Residences brand by 2031. As of January, Nazarian told Hotel Dive that the brand was ahead of schedule, with 13 of these 50 hotels already under contract. Future projects include HQ Residences Edgewater in Miami, with plans for expansion in Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.

Implications for Travellers and Industry

For travellers visiting Palm Springs, this development means a significantly upgraded stay option with new dining and entertainment venues, including a Pan-Asian restaurant and an adults-only pool experience, becoming available from later this year into early 2027. For the hospitality industry, SBE’s continued expansion of its HQ Hotels & Residences brand, particularly its aggressive target of 50 hotels globally by 2031, demonstrates a strong commitment to the lifestyle segment. This strategy could intensify competition and drive further innovation in approachable luxury accommodation across key markets, including several major US cities and potential international locations.
