Air India Launches Delhi–Osaka Non-Stop Flights from February 2027
The new service will operate four times weekly with Boeing 787-8 aircraft, establishing Air India as the sole Indian carrier offering direct connections on this route.

Direct Delhi–Osaka Service Begins February 2027
Air India announced it will commence non-stop flights between Delhi and Osaka, Japan, starting February 2, 2027. This new service will operate four times per week, utilising Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Air India stated that this route will position it as the only Indian airline providing direct connections between the two cities.
The introduction of these flights aims to offer travellers a direct link to Osaka, a prominent Japanese destination, enhancing convenience for Indian travellers seeking to explore its culinary, cultural, and urban attractions.
Aircraft Configuration and Flight Schedule
The Boeing 787-8 aircraft deployed on this route will feature 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class, according to Air India. The airline detailed the flight schedule: Flight AI360 will depart Delhi at 22:50 and arrive in Osaka at 9:50 the following day. The return service, Flight AI359, will depart Osaka at 11:50 and land in Delhi at 18:20. These timings are designed to facilitate travel between the two regions, improving overall connectivity for passengers.
Expanding Japan Network and Multi-City Travel
Osaka will become Air India's second destination in Japan, complementing its existing services to Tokyo. The airline currently operates daily flights from Delhi to Tokyo and four weekly flights from Mumbai to Tokyo.
Air India highlighted that the new Osaka route enables multi-city itineraries, allowing travellers to arrive in Tokyo and depart from Osaka, or vice versa, through its combined services from Mumbai and Delhi. This expansion provides more specific options for travellers to plan their trips across different parts of Japan within a single journey.
Booking Channels and Market Growth
Bookings for the new Delhi–Osaka flights are now open through Air India’s official website, its mobile application, customer contact centres, airport ticketing offices, and travel agents globally. This route launch aligns with a reported increase in interest among Indian travellers for Japan.
Air India noted the growing economic cooperation and strengthening tourism and cultural ties between India and Japan as factors driving the demand for such direct air links.
Enhanced Connectivity for Indian Travellers
This addition provides Indian travellers with more direct options to Japan, potentially boosting tourism flows between India and Japan. The increased capacity and direct connections between Delhi and Osaka are expected to further support the growth in bilateral travel.
Industry observers will be watching for the release of Q1 2027 passenger load factors on these new routes to gauge the immediate impact on market dynamics and potential for further expansion by Air India or competing carriers.
