Amerilodge Group Opens 105-Room Holiday Inn Express Kalamazoo
The new Michigan property, opened on 23 October, features extensive meeting facilities and is projected to create more than 25 local jobs.

New Hotel Opening in Michigan
Amerilodge Group has expanded its US hospitality portfolio with the launch of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kalamazoo East in Michigan. The 105-room property commenced operations on 23 October 2026, marking a new addition to the region's accommodation options.
Developed under the Holiday Inn Express brand's Formula Blue 2.0 design concept, the hotel integrates modern guest room layouts. These include a revised Smart Shelf system with integrated storage and luggage benches, alongside reconfigured wardrobes designed for ironing equipment.
Each room is equipped with mini-refrigerators, microwaves, flat-screen televisions, and safes, aiming to provide practical amenities for travellers.
Guest Amenities and Meeting Facilities
The new Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kalamazoo East, developed by Amerilodge Group, offers a range of on-site amenities for guests. These include an indoor heated swimming pool and a fitness centre. For business and private gatherings, the property provides over 1,100 square feet (approximately 102 square metres) of configurable meeting space.
This facility is designed to host events for up to 100 people. Additionally, the hotel provides business services and a complimentary Express Start breakfast, enhancing the overall guest offering.
Amerilodge Group, headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, operates as an owner, developer, and operator of hospitality properties, maintaining partnerships with brands such as IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, and Hilton.
Economic Impact and Company Vision
The opening of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kalamazoo East is projected to generate more than 25 new jobs across various departments, including guest services, housekeeping, and operations.
Amerilodge Group President and CEO, Asad Malik, stated that the company's investment in Kalamazoo reflects its confidence in the community's strong foundation and continued economic potential. Malik emphasised that introducing 105 modern guest rooms expands the region's hospitality offerings and contributes to its future.
He further noted Kalamazoo's thriving corporate base, educational institutions, and expanding visitor economy as key factors making it an important market for Amerilodge Group.
Implications for Global Hospitality
The strategic expansion by Amerilodge Group in a regional US market shows changing guest expectations for efficient and well-equipped lodging. This approach, focusing on specific regional demand rather than solely major urban centres, offers a model for hospitality development.
For Asian markets, particularly those with growing domestic tourism and secondary city development, this strategy could inform future investment. For example, in Vietnam, where domestic travel is increasing, developers like Vinpearl or FLC Group might consider similar focused expansions into provincial hubs such as Da Lat or Can Tho.
The Vietnamese government's target to attract 15 million international visitors and serve 130 million domestic travellers by 2028, as outlined by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, suggests a clear need for diversified accommodation across its regions, making such regional growth models pertinent for future planning and investment decisions in the coming two years.
