Argentina Boosts Indian Tourism with Visa Easing, Air Talks
Argentina's Ambassador to India, Mariano Caucino, detailed measures including visa-free entry for Indian nationals holding US visas and ongoing negotiations for a new Air Services Agreement.

Easing Entry for Indian Visitors
Argentina is actively working to enhance its appeal to Indian tourists and strengthen bilateral ties, according to Mariano Caucino, the Argentine Ambassador to India. Speaking at the Iconic Tourism Summit in Delhi on 24 September, Ambassador Caucino highlighted existing visa facilitations for Indian nationals.
Since August 2025, Indian citizens possessing a valid US visa have been able to enter Argentina as tourists for up to 90 days without requiring a separate Argentine visa. Additionally, Indian business travellers can secure a five-year business visa at no cost, a measure aimed at fostering economic engagement.
Ambassador Caucino expressed Argentina's hope for reciprocal visa policies from India, allowing Argentines similar ease of travel.
Advancing Air Connectivity Discussions
Further efforts to bolster travel between the two nations include ongoing negotiations for an Air Services Agreement. Ambassador Caucino confirmed that civil aviation authorities from both Argentina and India are currently discussing the framework.
This agreement aims to grant airlines from both countries greater operational freedom for flights and facilitate tools such as code-share partnerships. The proposed agreement aligns with Argentina's broader strategy to liberalise its air transport market; the government has signed similar open-sky agreements with more than 55 countries since its current term began.
Ambassador Caucino stated that increased airline freedom would lead to more routes, greater competition, and improved fares for travellers.
Digital Nomads and Economic Partnership
Argentina is also promoting its digital nomad visa programme, which allows remote professionals working for international companies to reside in the country for up to six months, with an option to renew for an additional six months.
Ambassador Caucino noted India's substantial pool of young technology talent and Argentina's developed tech ecosystem, suggesting a strong basis for collaboration and potential expansion of the digital nomad visa for Indian nationals.
Economically, India holds significant importance for Argentina, ranking as its sixth-largest economic partner, following Brazil, China, the European Union, the United States, and Chile. The Argentine Embassy reported that bilateral trade between India and Argentina exceeded USD 6.5 billion in 2025.
Implications for Indian Travel and Industry
These initiatives from Argentina signal a clear intent to deepen engagement with the Indian market. For Indian travellers, the existing visa waiver for US visa holders offers immediate, simpler access to Argentina, potentially increasing tourist flows.
The ongoing Air Services Agreement negotiations could lead to direct flight routes or more convenient connections, resulting in better fare options and reduced travel times. This development also presents opportunities for Indian airlines to explore new long-haul routes into South America.
While Argentina seeks reciprocity in visa policies, these steps provide a tangible framework for increased tourism and business travel from India, reflecting a broader trend of South American nations targeting key Asian outbound markets.
