Opus Bay Begins Phased Opening in December

Opus Bay, a new integrated waterfront resort located in Batam, Indonesia, is scheduled to commence its phased opening in December 2026. Positioned as a comprehensive leisure destination, the resort is notably accessible with a 45-minute ferry journey from Singapore.

Its initial launch will feature the Marina Bay Ferry Cove, a newly constructed private ferry terminal, alongside the debut of Residence on Opus Bay. This residential component includes the Balmoral Tower hotel, which offers 493 guest rooms.

A key convenience for arriving guests is the hotel's proximity, located just a three-minute walk from the dedicated ferry terminal, streamlining the arrival process for visitors.

Enhanced Connectivity and Guest Services

Direct ferry services will connect Singapore's major ferry hubs, HarbourFront and Singapore Cruise Centre, to Opus Bay's Marina Bay Ferry Cove.

This upgraded terminal is designed to offer a premium arrival experience, including a VIP lounge, dedicated priority lanes for faster processing, and complimentary buggy services to assist guests with luggage transfer to their accommodation. These provisions aim to establish a smooth and efficient transition from Singapore to the resort.

Beyond the initial opening, Opus Bay plans to introduce further amenities in subsequent development phases, expanding its appeal as a multi-faceted destination.

Future Retail, Dining, and Recreation

Future phases of Opus Bay will see the opening of the Bay Boulevard Marina Promenade, envisioned as a vibrant hub for retail and dining. This area is planned to host a variety of waterfront restaurants, a food hall featuring local Indonesian favourites, and speciality boutiques offering locally crafted souvenirs, Indonesian designer wear, and resort apparel.

A supermarket will also be part of this retail precinct. For active leisure, the resort will feature extensive sports facilities, including three padel courts, one of which is built to competition standards, and four pickleball courts. Hotel guests will benefit from complimentary access to these facilities, providing diverse recreational options.

Implications for Regional Tourism

The launch of Opus Bay is expected to strengthen Batam's position as a preferred short-haul island destination, particularly for the Singaporean market. Its integrated offerings, coupled with direct ferry access, present an attractive option for weekend getaways and longer leisure stays, potentially drawing visitors from other regional destinations.

This development may stimulate increased tourist traffic between Singapore and Indonesia, benefiting local businesses in Batam. The resort's comprehensive facilities, from accommodation and dining to retail and recreation, could set a new benchmark for integrated resort developments in the Riau Islands, influencing future investment and tourism strategies across the region.
