New Service Connects Spain and Singapore

Singapore Airlines inaugurated its new direct service connecting Madrid and Singapore on 27 October 2026, with an intermediate stop in Barcelona. Flight SQ387 departed Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport at 10:00 AM, arriving in Barcelona at 11:15 AM before continuing its journey to Singapore Changi Airport, where it landed at 8:25 AM the following day.

This addition establishes Madrid as the airline's fifteenth European destination. The route will operate five times weekly, utilising an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, known for its long-range capabilities and efficiency.

Enhanced Connectivity to Asian Destinations

The launch is considered a key development for Singapore Airlines' presence in the Spanish market, according to Kevin Lee, the carrier's General Manager for Spain and Portugal.

He noted that the direct link between Madrid and SIA's Singapore hub provides travellers with enhanced access to major destinations across Asia, including Bali in Indonesia, Phuket in Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The airline's network extends further into North Asia, covering Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and China, as well as the Southwest Pacific regions of Australia and New Zealand, offering broader connectivity options from Europe.

Promotional Fares and Stopover Offer

To mark the new service, Singapore Airlines has introduced limited-time promotional fares for departures from Madrid. Economy class flights to select Asian cities, such as Jakarta, Manila, Penang, Hanoi, and Siem Reap, are available from 618 euros, inclusive of taxes. This pricing references the airline's official ticket issuance code.

For destinations in Australia, fares begin at 988 euros, a figure chosen to symbolise fortune in various Asian cultures. Furthermore, passengers across all classes, including economy, premium economy, and business, can enjoy a complimentary six-hour stopover in Singapore.

Passenger Experience and Strategic Network Growth

Beyond the new route, Singapore Airlines continues to enhance its passenger offerings. The carrier has upgraded its in-flight entertainment system, Krisworld, now featuring over 2,500 options spanning movies, television programmes, music, and podcasts, alongside high-speed internet connectivity.

The airline was recently recognised as the 'best airline in the world' for the sixth consecutive year at the World Airline Awards Skytrax, an accolade received approximately a month prior to the Madrid route inauguration.

This expansion reinforces SIA's strategy to strengthen its European network, driving increased passenger traffic through its Changi Airport hub and cementing its position as a gateway to and from Asia.
