Batam View Beach Resort Launches Sidjih Wellness Village for Extended Stays
The Sidjih Wellness Village commenced operations on 19 September, with Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism highlighting its role in boosting Batam's appeal for health-focused retreats.

New Wellness Offering in Batam
Batam View Beach Resort officially opened its Sidjih Wellness Village on 19 September, introducing a new health-focused tourism offering to Indonesia's Batam island.
The launch event featured traditional celebratory rituals and was attended by prominent figures in the tourism sector, including Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
The new village aims to significantly enhance Batam's appeal as a destination for well-being and encourage visitors to prolong their stays on the island through dedicated health programmes.
Facility Details and Programme Offerings
The Sidjih Wellness Village, built on the grounds of Batam View Beach Resort, features seven dedicated treatment rooms. Among these are two suites equipped with jacuzzis and other specialised facilities, all set within carefully designed landscaped gardens. The village provides comprehensive wellness packages, typically spanning four to five days.
These programmes integrate healthy meal plans, traditional Indonesian herbal remedies, and a variety of treatments such as sound healing, yoga sessions, and various massage therapies. Guests on these packages also have opportunities to explore Batam further through organised day tours and shopping excursions.
Boosting Regional Tourism Strategy
Ni Made Ayu Marthini, from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, stated that the Sidjih Wellness Village is expected to play a crucial role in extending the average length of stay for visitors to Batam. She noted that the new facility allows guests to engage in week-long health-focused retreats, thereby increasing their time on the island.
Marthini also explained that Batam's strengthened focus on wellness tourism could enable Indonesia's travel industry to develop more diverse multi-destination itineraries, potentially pairing Batam with urban attractions in Jakarta or cultural exploration in Bali.
Appeal to Leisure and Corporate Markets
Anddy Fong, General Manager of Batam View Beach Resort, expressed confidence that the wellness facility will attract a broad range of visitors. Beyond leisure travellers seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, Fong anticipates that the Sidjih Wellness Village will also appeal to corporate meetings and events frequently hosted at the resort.
He highlighted a growing trend where businesses incorporate mental and physical well-being activities into their agendas, making the new wellness village a fitting addition for such corporate gatherings. This expansion aims to capture new market segments and drive further growth for the resort and the island.
