New Services from February 2027

Contour Airlines is set to commence new air services from DuBois Regional Airport in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, starting on February 1, 2027. The independent regional carrier will establish routes connecting DuBois to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).

Flights to Atlanta are scheduled to operate daily, providing consistent access to the major southern hub. The Chicago O'Hare service will run five times weekly, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, offering travellers flexible options for connecting to the Midwest.

Aircraft and Service Term

These new operations will utilise 30-seat regional aircraft, aligning with the capacity requirements for Essential Air Service routes. Regulators formally selected Contour Airlines earlier in October 2026 to take over these vital regional connections.

The airline's agreement for this service term is extensive, running through to January 31, 2031, providing long-term stability for air travel options from DuBois. This commitment underscores the ongoing need for dedicated regional air links to larger national and international gateways.

Transition from Southern Airways Express

The introduction of Contour Airlines' services marks a transition for DuBois Regional Airport, as it replaces the current provider, Southern Airways Express. Southern Airways Express presently offers flights from Jefferson County to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Their service to and from DuBois is scheduled to conclude on January 31, 2027, paving the way for Contour Airlines' new flight schedule. This change ensures continuity of essential air connectivity for the region, albeit with new destinations.

Interline Partnerships and Regional Connectivity

As part of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) order selecting Contour, the carrier's agreement includes crucial interline arrangements with several major airlines. These partners comprise United Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines.

Such partnerships are instrumental in facilitating broader connectivity for passengers travelling from DuBois, allowing them to book seamless itineraries beyond Atlanta and Chicago.

For Asian markets, this scenario mirrors the importance of regional carriers like Japan Airlines (JAL) or All Nippon Airways (ANA) subsidiaries, which provide essential feeder services to major international hubs, enabling travellers from smaller cities to access global networks efficiently.

This ensures that regional airports, whether in Pennsylvania or Hokkaido, remain integrated into the wider travel ecosystem.
