EasyJet to Adopt Starlink Wi-Fi Across Entire Fleet
Installations of the high-speed satellite internet service will commence in early 2027, with the full rollout across the airline's Airbus A320 family completed by early 2028.

EasyJet Adopts Starlink Connectivity
British low-cost airline EasyJet announced on Monday that it will integrate Starlink's high-speed wireless internet service throughout its entire fleet. The carrier plans to begin installing the satellite internet technology on its Airbus A320 family aircraft, which includes A320s, A320neos, and A321neos, starting in early 2027.
EasyJet anticipates that the complete fleet-wide rollout of Starlink connectivity will be finalised by early 2028, according to executives. This move aims to provide passengers with enhanced internet access during flights, aligning with a broader industry trend towards improved in-flight services.
Enhancing Passenger Experience with High-Speed Internet
Kenton Jarvis, EasyJet CEO, stated in a news release that innovation is central to the airline's identity. He noted that the partnership with SpaceX, Starlink's parent company, to introduce high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will significantly improve the travel experience for millions of customers.
Jarvis emphasised that this initiative provides more of the options that both business and leisure travellers seek when selecting an airline. The integration of Starlink is part of EasyJet's strategy to meet evolving passenger expectations for digital connectivity during air travel.
Growing Trend in Airline Connectivity Solutions
Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, has been securing agreements with several prominent global airlines and airline groups. Carriers that have adopted Starlink's services include United, Southwest, Lufthansa Group, Emirates, Air France-KLM, Air Canada, and Alaska.
This widespread adoption indicates a growing industry shift towards satellite-based internet solutions for commercial aviation. In the competitive landscape, other airlines have also pursued advanced connectivity options; for instance, Delta and JetBlue have partnered with Amazon Leo, a competitor to Starlink, to provide in-flight internet services.
Acquisition Context for EasyJet
The announcement of Starlink integration comes as EasyJet is in the process of being acquired by Apollo, an American asset management firm. EasyJet shareholders are scheduled to vote on Apollo's buyout offer next month, in November 2026. Apollo has proposed an offer of £7.15 per share in cash for the airline.
This acquisition process follows a period in summer 2026 when EasyJet considered takeover bids from firms including Castlelake, as surging jet fuel prices had destabilised its operational model. The connectivity upgrade proceeds amidst these significant corporate changes.
Implications for Asian Aviation Markets
The increasing adoption of high-speed in-flight internet by carriers like EasyJet, alongside major global players such as Emirates and Air France-KLM, which serve extensive routes across Asia, sets a precedent for connectivity expectations.
While EasyJet does not operate in Asia, the trend towards advanced satellite Wi-Fi could influence Asian airlines, particularly low-cost carriers, to accelerate their own connectivity upgrades.
Asian travellers, accustomed to high digital penetration, may increasingly demand similar high-speed internet options from regional and international carriers flying to and from the continent. This shift could drive further investment in travel-tech infrastructure across Asian aviation.
