Key Appointments in North America and Europe

Global hotel groups have announced a series of significant leadership appointments this week, effective for properties across North America and Europe. Lore Group reported the appointment of Kristie Rasheed as managing director for its U.S. Hotels, overseeing operations at Riggs Washington DC, Lyle Washington DC, and Hotel Park Ave NYC.

Rasheed brings over 20 years of sector experience, most recently serving as vice president of operations for Olympia Hospitality, managing a portfolio of more than 40 hotels. Separately, Dorchester Collection confirmed Richard Cooke will assume the role of general manager at Hotel Bel-Air from 1 January 2027.

Cooke joins from Rocco Forte Hotels, where he was managing director for the UK and Northern Europe, contributing more than three decades of international luxury hospitality expertise.

New General Managers and Resort Openings

Further appointments include Rhanda Richardson as general manager for the 1,366-room Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, following her tenure as general manager at JW Marriott Anaheim Resort. OUTRIGGER Ka‘anapali Beach Resort promoted Meghan Lee to resort manager, tasking her with daily operations, business planning, and budgeting.

Lee had served as director of sales and marketing at the resort since 2024. In Europe, Evok Collection announced Francesca Tozzi as general manager of Brach Roma, where she will lead the hotel’s opening, scheduled for April 2027. Tozzi previously managed the 18-month pre-opening phase and 2023 launch of Six Senses Rome, bringing over 25 years of experience to her new role.

Asian Experience Shapes Culinary Leadership

Among the new leadership, Davide Allievi has been appointed executive chef at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa. Allievi will oversee the resort’s culinary operations, drawing on more than 15 years of experience gained in luxury hospitality destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Maldives.

His career includes leadership positions at notable Asian properties such as Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, Grand Hyatt Bali, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, and The Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou.

Most recently, Allievi served as executive chef at Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, demonstrating a deep understanding of diverse culinary traditions and high-end guest expectations from these key regions.

Implications for Global Hospitality Standards

These leadership changes across major hotel groups reflect a continued focus on operational excellence and strategic growth within the global hospitality sector. The appointments of seasoned professionals, particularly those with extensive international exposure like Davide Allievi, suggest an industry drive to integrate diverse service philosophies and culinary innovations.

For Asian travellers and industry operators, the presence of leaders with direct experience from markets such as the Maldives, Bali, and Guangzhou could mean an evolving standard of service and dining that incorporates elements familiar and appealing to discerning Asian guests, even in Western properties. This trend highlights a cross-pollination of best practices, impacting guest experiences worldwide.
