IHG to Open First Holiday Inn Resort in Luang Prabang by 2027
The 101-room property, developed with Naluang International Resort and Hotel, will mark IHG's entry into Laos's UNESCO World Heritage city beyond Vientiane.

New Resort for Luang Prabang
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open the Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill in 2027. This development will establish the group’s first property in Luang Prabang, a destination recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site in Laos. The 101-room resort is being developed in collaboration with Naluang International Resort and Hotel.
It will be situated on Naluang Hill, providing views over Luang Prabang and convenient access to the city’s historic centre and cultural attractions. The introduction of this resort expands IHG's presence within Laos, extending its operations beyond the capital city of Vientiane.
Property Features and Accessibility
Upon its opening, Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill will offer 101 guestrooms, suites, and villas. Guests will have access to four food and beverage outlets, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a spa. The resort will also include more than 500 square metres of meeting and event space, suitable for various gatherings, corporate retreats, and incentive groups.
Families staying at the property can utilise the Holiday Inn Resort's Kids Stay & Eat Free programme. The resort's location provides proximity to key attractions such as Mount Phousi, Kuang Si Falls, and Pak Ou Caves, with access facilitated by Luang Prabang International Airport and the Laos-China Railway.
IHG's Expanding Footprint in Laos
Currently, IHG Hotels & Resorts operates two properties in Laos, both located in Vientiane. These include the Crowne Plaza and the Holiday Inn & Suites, which collectively offer 471 rooms. The upcoming Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill represents a significant step for IHG, as it marks the group's expansion into a second major Laotian city.
This move diversifies IHG's portfolio within the country and broadens the range of accommodation choices available under its brands to travellers visiting different regions of Laos.
Implications for Laos Tourism
The addition of an internationally recognised brand like Holiday Inn Resort in Luang Prabang enhances the city's hospitality capacity and brand diversity. This development supports Laos's tourism sector by providing more options for international visitors seeking a blend of cultural exploration and modern amenities within the UNESCO World Heritage site.
As infrastructure such as the Laos-China Railway improves connectivity, the new resort can help cater to an anticipated increase in global travellers, contributing to the country's broader tourism objectives.
