IHG to Open 101-Room Holiday Inn Resort in Luang Prabang for 2027
IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Naluang International Resort and Hotel to launch its first property in the UNESCO World Heritage city, adding to its existing operations in Vientiane.

New Resort Details for Luang Prabang
IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has confirmed plans to open the Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill in Laos during 2027. The hospitality group signed an agreement with Naluang International Resort and Hotel to develop the 101-room property.
Situated on Naluang Hill, the resort will offer a selection of guestrooms, suites, and villas, marking IHG's initial venture into the UNESCO World Heritage city. This development will expand IHG's footprint in Laos, complementing its established presence in the nation's capital.
Amenities and Location Advantages
Upon its opening, the Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill will feature four distinct food and beverage outlets, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a spa. The property is also designed to cater to business and event needs, incorporating over 500 square metres of meeting space suitable for small to medium-sized gatherings and corporate retreats.
Its strategic location on Naluang Hill will provide views over Luang Prabang, placing guests within easy access of the city’s Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and other significant cultural landmarks.
Expanding IHG's Laos Presence
This upcoming resort represents IHG's inaugural property in Luang Prabang, a significant expansion of its operations within Laos. The company currently manages two hotels in Vientiane: the Crowne Plaza and the Holiday Inn & Suites. These existing properties collectively provide 471 keys across both brands in the capital.
The introduction of the Holiday Inn Resort in Luang Prabang shows IHG's strategy to grow its portfolio in key Southeast Asian destinations, particularly those with strong cultural and leisure appeal.
Market Outlook for Luang Prabang
Shi’ai Liang, Senior Director for South East Asia and Korea Development at IHG Hotels & Resorts, noted that Luang Prabang is a compelling destination within Southeast Asia, recognised for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, which draws both domestic and international travellers.
Liang added that as demand for quality leisure travel experiences continues to increase across the region, destinations offering authentic cultural connections alongside exceptional hospitality present significant opportunities.
Beyond leisure, Luang Prabang is also seeing improved connectivity and growing interest for meetings, incentives, and corporate retreats, suggesting a broadening appeal for the city's tourism sector. This new resort will support Luang Prabang's growth as a leading leisure and business hub in Laos.
