IHG's voco Brand Debuts in Kenya with Nairobi Airport Suites
IHG Hotels & Resorts launched voco Nairobi Airport Suites on 28 September 2026, marking the voco brand's first property in Kenya and East Africa with 112 suites.

voco Brand Enters East African Market
IHG Hotels & Resorts officially opened voco Nairobi Airport Suites on 28 September 2026, introducing the voco brand to Kenya and the broader East African region.
The new hotel is strategically situated off Mombasa Road, offering proximity to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, located 8 kilometres away, and is within walking distance of the Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway Terminus.
This opening establishes voco Nairobi Airport Suites as the first property under the voco banner in East Africa, expanding IHG's presence in a key continental travel hub. The property aims to serve both business and leisure travellers visiting the Kenyan capital.
Guest Accommodation and Facilities
The voco Nairobi Airport Suites features 112 suites, offering a range of accommodation choices including one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and presidential options. Each suite is designed with separate living areas, dedicated dining spaces, kitchenettes, workspaces, private balconies, and laundry facilities, according to IHG Hotels & Resorts.
For dining, the hotel provides four distinct concepts, including the Kilimanjaro Restaurant, which is located beside the rooftop swimming pool and offers live cooking stations and a barbecue area. Additionally, guests have access to a fitness centre and a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Meeting and Event Capabilities
The hotel is equipped with four meeting and event spaces, collectively spanning 623 square metres. The largest of these venues, Mara Hall, measures 235.33 square metres and can accommodate between 160 and 180 guests. These spaces are designed to host various functions, from business meetings and training sessions to conferences and social events.
IHG Hotels & Resorts stated that the event facilities benefit from natural daylight penetration, high-speed internet connectivity, a built-in LED screen, and integrated audiovisual equipment.
Amit Sharma, General Manager of voco Nairobi Airport Suites, commented that the property is tailored for travellers seeking a comfortable, home-like environment while on the move, highlighting its spacious suites, rooftop dining, and flexible meeting areas.
IHG's Global Expansion Strategy
The launch of voco Nairobi Airport Suites reflects IHG Hotels & Resorts' ongoing strategy to expand its voco brand globally. Nairobi's position as a major gateway city in East Africa makes it a strategic location for such a debut, catering to growing demand for premium accommodation options.
This expansion aligns with other recent developments for the voco brand, including IHG's agreement last month (August 2026) to open a new voco-branded property in Muar, Malaysia.
That Malaysian project, in partnership with KCC Hotel (Muar), a subsidiary of KCC Holdings Group, shows IHG's parallel focus on growing the voco portfolio across diverse international markets, including key locations within Asia.
