Malaysian Border Control Unveils KLIA Hologram Kiosk
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency introduced a digital kiosk on 26 October 2026, offering real-time, multilingual guidance on entry requirements for international passengers.

New Digital Aid at KLIA Terminal 1
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has launched an interactive hologram kiosk designed to assist international passengers arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
Unveiled on Monday, 26 October 2026, during the agency's second-anniversary celebrations, this digital assistant aims to streamline the initial entry process for visitors. The system represents a step forward in leveraging technology to provide immediate support and information to a diverse international travelling public at one of Asia's key aviation hubs.
Multilingual Guidance for Travellers
Scheduled for deployment within KLIA Terminal 1's satellite building, the interactive kiosk features a digital avatar of an agency officer. This virtual assistant is capable of answering traveller queries in real time, providing crucial information regarding entry requirements.
The system supports multiple languages, including English and Mandarin, ensuring accessibility for a broad spectrum of international visitors. A live demonstration at its launch showcased the avatar's ability to engage with passengers and deliver precise guidance, enhancing the clarity of border procedures.
Agency's Vision for Digital Assistance
Ismail Mokhtar, Deputy Director-General (Management) of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, explained that the initiative draws inspiration from a similar hologram system previously implemented by the Home Ministry. That system operates at the Setia Perkasa Complex in Putrajaya.
Mokhtar stated that AKPS shares the vision and mission of utilising advanced digital tools to provide essential information. This approach aims to proactively address common questions from arriving travellers about the necessary documentation and procedures for entry into Malaysia.
Enhanced Arrival Experience for International Visitors
The introduction of this interactive hologram kiosk at KLIA Terminal 1 is set to significantly enhance the arrival experience for international travellers. By offering immediate, multilingual access to entry requirements, the technology can reduce potential confusion and delays often associated with immigration processes.
For travellers across Asia, such innovations at major regional airports like KLIA could establish a precedent for improved digital assistance. This development may prompt other regional hubs to explore similar visitor-centric technologies, aiming to boost efficiency and elevate passenger satisfaction across the continent.
