Mews Expands Integrated POS System to North American Markets
Mews, a hospitality technology firm, commenced operations for its Mews POS system in the United States and Canada on 1 September 2026. This system allows hotels to manage property operations, payment processing, and food and beverage services through a unified interface. Mews stated in a news release that the North American launch forms part of its broader plan to provide hoteliers with a cohesive platform that addresses the entire scope of hotel operations. The system is already operational in over 20 countries across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Richard Valtr, Mews' founder, remarked that the integrated system eliminates the complexities associated with disparate standalone platforms. He added that Mews POS consolidates all guest interactions and payment data into a single location, removing the need for manual reconciliation at the close of a shift. This expansion into key North American markets demonstrates Mews’ commitment to standardising hotel management processes globally, building on its existing footprint in diverse international regions.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Commences $107 Million Tower Refurbishment
MGM Resorts International announced on 2 September 2026 that its Borgata Tower, situated within the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will undergo a $107 million renovation project. The refurbishment will encompass the tower's guest rooms, suites, corridors, and main lobby. Work is scheduled to begin on 13 September 2026, with the first renovated guest rooms becoming available to guests from October 2026.
Avenue Interior Design is leading the renovation efforts, with an aim to introduce a more contemporary and inviting aesthetic to the resort. New furnishings and finishes throughout the property will draw inspiration from modern Italian design principles. MGM Resorts International confirmed this project is part of a larger property-wide overhaul that will continue into 2027. This follows a $55 million renovation completed in 2023 for the MGM Tower, previously known as the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Water Club, as part of its rebranding initiative.
Hotel Equities Broadens Austin Portfolio with Lodgic Hospitality Partnership
Hotel Equities, a management company, confirmed on 3 September 2026 a partnership with Lodgic Hospitality to manage its three-hotel portfolio in Austin, Texas. The properties, owned by entities associated with Lodgic Hospitality and its investment partners, include the Aloft by Marriott Austin Northwest, Tru by Hilton Austin NW Arboretum, and Hilton Garden Inn Austin Central. This collaboration increases Hotel Equities’ presence in Austin to seven properties and expands its Texas roster to 25 hotels.
David Rosenberg, President of the focused service division at Atlanta-based Hotel Equities, stated that Austin represents one of the nation's most competitive hospitality markets, and these three additions strengthen the company's position there. Amit Patel, CEO of Texas-based Lodgic Hospitality, explained that the decision to partner with Hotel Equities was driven by the desire to integrate additional scale, operational systems, and specialised resources into the daily management of these assets, aiming for enhanced operational efficiency.
Industry Outlook: Integrated Systems and Market Consolidation Drive Future Growth
The launch of Mews POS in North America shows a continuing industry trend towards integrated technology platforms, which simplify hotel operations and centralise guest data. For hoteliers, such systems can streamline management, potentially reducing operational costs and improving service delivery, which directly benefits travellers through more efficient check-ins and consistent service. The expansion into the U.S. and Canada, following its success across Europe and the Asia-Pacific, demonstrates the global demand for unified hospitality technology solutions.
Simultaneously, the significant investment in the Borgata Hotel renovation highlights a commitment by major operators like MGM Resorts to maintain high standards and modernise their offerings in competitive markets such as Atlantic City. This upgrade will provide travellers with refreshed accommodation options and an updated aesthetic. The strategic partnership between Hotel Equities and Lodgic Hospitality in Austin reflects the ongoing consolidation and scaling within the hotel management sector, where larger firms provide specialised resources to optimise asset performance in growing urban markets. These developments collectively point to an industry focus on technological advancement, property enhancement, and strategic management to meet evolving market demands.
