Anaheim Welcomes First Autograph Collection Hotel by 2029

OCVIBE has revealed the design plans for SENA, a new hotel scheduled to open in Anaheim, California, in 2029. This property will mark Marriott's Autograph Collection brand's debut in Anaheim, featuring over 300 guest rooms. SENA is envisioned as a key anchor within OCVIBE, a privately funded 100-acre real estate development encircling the Honda Centre.

The hotel aims to integrate with OCVIBE's broader cultural and sports initiatives while also connecting to the Marriott Bonvoy reservation and loyalty platform, offering guests access to the brand's global network.

Design and Culinary Offerings for SENA

The exterior and landscape architecture for SENA were designed by WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo), drawing inspiration from the Santa Ana River and the area's natural light conditions. Rockwell Group is responsible for the interior architecture, creating a distinctive aesthetic for the property.

Sage Hospitality Group will manage the hotel's operations, including guest accommodation, meeting facilities, and various food and beverage venues.

Culinary highlights include a signature restaurant led by Chef José Andrés, complemented by an indoor-outdoor bar, a circular lobby bar overlooking South Plaza and the Honda Centre, and a swimming pool area equipped with cabanas, fire elements, and audio facilities.

SENA as Part of the OCVIBE Masterplan

SENA forms a crucial part of the extensive OCVIBE masterplan, which aims to transform the land around the Honda Centre into a pedestrian-friendly commercial and residential hub.

The comprehensive development is planned to include three live entertainment venues, more than 2,000 homes, office spaces, over 35 food and beverage outlets, 20 acres of civic space and parkland, and three miles of pedestrian paths adorned with public art.

The OCVIBE project is being delivered in phases, with the initial phase, comprising office accommodation, a market hall, and a concert venue, anticipated to open in 2027, preceding SENA's scheduled opening in 2029.

Global Trends in Integrated Hospitality Developments

The development of SENA within the larger OCVIBE mixed-use district reflects a growing global trend towards integrated hospitality and entertainment destinations.

This model, which combines hotels with residential, retail, dining, and entertainment components, is prevalent in major Asian cities such as Singapore, Macau, and Manila, where properties like Marina Bay Sands and integrated resorts have become significant tourism drivers.

For Asian travellers, such developments in key global destinations like Anaheim offer a comprehensive leisure and business travel option, consolidating multiple activities within a single precinct.

Industry observers in Asia may also note how this approach to urban development and hospitality could influence future investment strategies and project designs across the continent, particularly in burgeoning urban centres looking to enhance their appeal to international visitors and residents.
