Moreton Bay Welcomes First Five-Star Peppers Hotel

Peppers Clear Mountain has opened near Brisbane, marking Moreton Bay's debut five-star hotel. Mandala Hotels & Resorts completed a multi-million-dollar transformation of the former Mercure Clear Mountain property. The 51-room retreat is situated on 20 hectares of bushland, offering views of the Glass House Mountains, and is located just 35 minutes' drive from Brisbane.

This property is now integrated into the Accor network, providing access to its global distribution channels and the ALL Accor loyalty programme. It joins a collection of 30 other Peppers properties across Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

Extensive Refurbishment Across All Facilities

The redevelopment, undertaken by Mandala Hotels & Resorts in collaboration with hospitality design and construction firm Dezign, encompassed significant upgrades to accommodation, dining, event, and leisure spaces. The Glasshouse Restaurant now features a distinct fireplace, banquette and lounge seating, a contemporary bar, and two private dining rooms.

A new Chef’s Garden has been established to supply fresh seasonal produce, enhancing the restaurant's garden-to-table offerings. Leisure facilities have also been improved, including a reframed pool with new decking and glass balustrades, a central fountain on Serenity Lawn, an enhanced walkway, a billiard room, and a newly equipped gym. A new porte-cochère leads to updated reception and foyer areas.

Targeting Leisure, Events, and Corporate Retreats

Peppers Clear Mountain is positioned to serve three key market segments: leisure travellers seeking nature-led escapes, destination weddings, and corporate retreats.

Luke Edwards, CEO of Tourism and Events Moreton Bay, stated that the opening reflects a changing tourism landscape in Moreton Bay, with the region evolving from a day-trip destination to one where visitors choose to stay longer and explore.

Adrian Williams, Accor Pacific COO, highlighted the property's upgrade in the context of Queensland's preparations for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics, noting a surge in tourism demand and increasing flight capacity across the market.

Implications for Regional Luxury Tourism

The introduction of Peppers Clear Mountain provides a new premium accommodation choice in Moreton Bay, expanding options for travellers seeking luxury stays within easy reach of Brisbane.

For the industry, this investment by Mandala Hotels & Resorts and Accor demonstrates confidence in regional Queensland's tourism infrastructure development, particularly in anticipation of major international events.

While the immediate impact is regional, the Accor network's broader presence in Asia-Pacific, including Indonesia, suggests that successful models for regional luxury development in Australia could inform similar strategies for developing nature-focused retreats in Asian destinations, especially those aiming to attract high-value international visitors seeking unique, experience-driven travel.
