Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Hosts Two-Day Cultural Immersion
The resort's 'Day of Discovery 2026' event from 31 October to 1 November highlights Indonesian craftsmanship, traditional performances, and unique beverage rituals.

Bali Resort Celebrates Local Culture
Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort will host its 'Day of Discovery 2026' on 31 October and 1 November, presenting a two-day programme that celebrates Indonesian culture, local craftsmanship, and contemporary creativity.
The event aims to provide guests with an experience of Bali that extends beyond its typical attractions, fostering connections with regional flavours, traditions, and local artisans. This initiative forms part of Renaissance Hotels' annual 'Day of Discovery', which is observed across participating properties in Asia Pacific, excluding China, throughout October and November.
The overarching theme for this year's programme is 'Layers of Discovery', designed to explore the unique character of each destination through its neighbourhoods, creative communities, and cultural heritage, according to Renaissance Hotels.
First Day Highlights: Craft and Performance
The festivities at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort are scheduled to commence on 31 October at 4pm with an exclusive workshop at R Bar, where invited guests can create accessories from recycled glass beads in collaboration with Segi Jewelry.
As the evening progresses, 'Malam Gemintang', an event translating to 'evening under the stars', will bring together a curated selection of Indonesian artisans and independent brands. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore handcrafted items and culinary creations from entities including Segi Jewelry, Saraswati Papers, Si.Rangkai, and Neliyo Wear.
Drinks will be a central feature through 'The Punch Bowl', a cocktail experience drawing inspiration from local night markets and showcasing Arak Bumbung, a traditional Balinese spirit.
The cultural programme will also include a condensed rendition of the Ramayana Ballet, accompanied by a mini Kecak dance, followed by a fashion showcase at the Jungle Pool by local designers Neli Gunawan and Yusi Hendrawati, complete with fire dance performances and music curated by the resort’s resident DJ.
Second Day: Culinary and Creative Workshops
On 1 November, the 'Day of Discovery' will continue with lunch at Tanah Liat, the resort’s seafood restaurant, at 1pm. This refreshed dining concept will focus on local ingredients and regional Indonesian flavours, offering a culinary exploration of the country’s produce.
Following lunch, guests can participate in a bookbinding and decoration workshop hosted by Saraswati Papers, a Bali-based studio recognised for producing handmade paper from 100 per cent recycled materials. This workshop provides a practical introduction to traditional craftsmanship and creative reuse, aligning with the event's emphasis on sustainability and local artistry.
The two-day programme will conclude at 5pm with 'Blooming Flower', a special Punch Bowl experience at R Bar, featuring Nusa Caña, a premium Indonesian rum. This communal cocktail ritual is designed to bring guests together through a shared beverage, fostering connections, as stated by Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort.
Implications for Asian Travellers
The 'Day of Discovery' at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort reflects a broader strategic approach by Renaissance Hotels to travel, prioritising engagement with a destination through its people, distinct flavours, and cultural traditions.
The resort’s collaboration with Demitria “Demi” Dana Paramita, founder of HATS Bar Jakarta and Renaissance Hotels’ first Beverage Rituals Ambassador, has resulted in unique beverage rituals such as 'Blooming Flower', 'The Night Market', and 'Silk Road'.
For travellers visiting Bali and other Asia Pacific destinations, such initiatives offer a deeper and more authentic engagement with local culture, directly supporting regional artisans, designers, and cultural practitioners.
This trend by major hospitality brands towards integrating localised experiences into luxury offerings provides a tangible benefit, enabling travellers to connect more meaningfully with the identity of their chosen destination.
