Thailand will host numerous events in August 2026, spanning cultural festivals, culinary celebrations, and travel trade shows. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Newsroom announced a calendar of activities across the nation, from the northern regions of Chiang Mai and Phrae to the southern provinces of Phuket and Songkhla, alongside events in the central plains and capital, Bangkok. These events aim to showcase local traditions, gastronomy, and arts to domestic and international visitors, encouraging travel beyond conventional tourist hubs.
Key Festivals and Fairs Highlight August
Major events include the Mini Balloon Festival 2026 in Pran Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, scheduled for 7-9 August. Bangkok will host Character Fest Thailand 2 from 14-17 August at CentralWorld, and the 79th Thai Teaw Thai domestic travel fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from 20-23 August. The "Feel All the Feelings" campaign continues with specific activities: Lanna Haute Couture on 8 August and Lanna Omakase on 16 August in Chiang Mai, and Illuminating Peranakan in Phuket Old Town from 23-29 August.
Regional Showcases and Community Celebrations
Regional highlights include "Taste the Local @ Phitsanulok 2026" from 30 July – 2 August at Chan Royal Palace, focusing on local food. Phrae will hold "Feel All the Feeling @ Phrae 2026" from 31 July – 2 August at King Rama IX Commemorative Health Park, highlighting provincial culture. Ayutthaya features the "2026 Ayutthaya Night Run Fun Fin Fear" on 1-2 August at Wat Mahathat. The 9th Sun-Dried Squid & Seafood Festival 2026 takes place in Pran Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, from 7-9 August, coinciding with the Mini Balloon Festival. Lampang's distinctive Pha Khrang textile will be celebrated at Central Lampang on 10-11 August.
