New Hanoi-Ahmedabad Service Commences 3 November

Vietnam Airlines has officially confirmed the launch of its new direct service connecting Hanoi, Vietnam, with Ahmedabad, India, starting on 3 November 2026. The airline will operate this route four times weekly, utilising its Airbus A321 aircraft. This introduction marks a significant expansion for the carrier, establishing its seventh direct air link between Vietnam and India.

The new schedule will see flights departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, enhancing accessibility and travel options between the two rapidly growing economies. This launch follows an earlier intention to begin the service in mid-October, with the revised date now set for early November.

Strategic Expansion into India

The decision to introduce the Hanoi-Ahmedabad route is part of Vietnam Airlines' broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Indian market. The airline noted a substantial increase in both tourism and business travel between Vietnam and India, underpinned by robust diplomatic and aviation relationships.

With this new service, Vietnam Airlines will now conduct a total of 25 round-trip flights per week to India, highlighting the growing importance of the subcontinent in its network. India has rapidly ascended to become Vietnam's eighth-largest international visitor market, demonstrating the strong demand for direct air connections.

The airline also specifically aims to cater to the rising travel needs of Gujarat's vibrant business community, offering a direct conduit for trade and commerce.

Traveller Benefits and Flight Timings

The new direct service is designed to offer considerable benefits for travellers, particularly those in India seeking broader international connections. Passengers flying from Ahmedabad can now access Vietnam Airlines' extensive network through Hanoi, providing onward connections to various destinations across Northeast Asia and North America.

This enhances the convenience and efficiency of long-haul travel from western India. The flight schedule is structured for optimal travel flow: flights are expected to depart Hanoi at 5:35 p.m. and arrive in Ahmedabad at 9:30 p.m. local time. For return journeys, flights will depart Ahmedabad at 10:45 p.m., arriving in Hanoi at 4:35 a.m. the following day, facilitating early morning connections.

Strengthening Asia's Air Travel Network

The launch of the Hanoi-Ahmedabad route significantly strengthens air connectivity within the Asian region, particularly between Southeast Asia and South Asia. This strategic move by Vietnam Airlines not only reinforces its footprint in the Indian market but also provides passengers with increased direct travel choices between Vietnam and India.

For the broader Asian travel industry and travellers, this new link facilitates easier access to Vietnam's burgeoning tourism sector and supports growing business exchanges across the continent. Furthermore, Indian travellers gain a direct and efficient gateway via Hanoi to other key Asian cities and beyond, fostering greater regional movement and economic interaction.

This development aligns with the increasing trend of intra-Asian travel and trade, benefiting both leisure and corporate segments.
