Boracay Secures High Ranking

Boracay in the Philippines was voted Asia's second most beautiful island by over 798,000 readers of American magazine Condé Nast Traveler. The island achieved a score of 94.6 points out of 100, placing it directly after Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island, which secured 95.26 points.

This ranking saw Boracay surpass Malaysia's Langkawi in the annual Readers' Choice Awards, a significant recognition of its appeal among global travellers.

Island's Renowned Attractions

Located more than 300 kilometres south of Manila, the approximately 10-square-kilometre island of Boracay is celebrated for its pristine white-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters. The destination also draws visitors with its lively nightlife options and spectacular sunsets, contributing to its broad appeal.

Popular activities available on the island include sunset sailing aboard traditional double-outrigger paraw boats, scuba diving among its rich marine life, island hopping to nearby coves, parasailing for aerial views, and kayaking in clear-bottom crystal kayaks.

Willy's Rock, a distinctive volcanic rock formation, is a well-known landmark situated just offshore from Station 1 along Boracay's White Beach, often featured in visitor photographs.

Condé Nast Traveler's Annual Accolade

The Readers' Choice Awards, organised by Condé Nast Traveler, represent the travel industry's longest-running recognition programme. More than 798,867 readers participated in the survey, sharing their opinions across a range of travel experiences, including cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.

These awards aim to celebrate excellence in hospitality and destinations worldwide, reflecting traveller preferences and influencing future travel choices.

Regional Tourism Impact

Boracay's consistent recognition in global travel polls, such as this Condé Nast Traveler award, reinforces its appeal as a premier destination within Southeast Asia. For the Philippine tourism sector, this accolade can drive increased international visitor interest and reinforce marketing efforts targeting travellers seeking acclaimed island experiences.

The distinction also highlights the competitive landscape among Asian island destinations, with Vietnam's Phu Quoc securing the top spot, indicating a broader trend of regional islands gaining prominence in global travel preferences.

Tourism boards and travel operators across Asia will observe how such reader-voted awards translate into booking trends for the upcoming travel seasons, particularly as travellers continue to prioritise destinations lauded for natural beauty and leisure activities.
