Elizabeth Arthotel Commences Winter Season

Elizabeth Arthotel, a five-star adults-only property in Ischgl, Austrian Alps, will reopen its doors on 26 November 2026, marking the start of its 50th year of operation. The hotel, which offers ski-in/ski-out access directly to the slopes, will welcome guests aged 16 and over for the winter season.

Elizabeth Arthotel features 40 luxurious rooms and suites, a rooftop spa with an infinity pool, and a contemporary art collection. Fine dining is overseen by Austrian Head Chef Thomas Zechner. The hotel will operate until mid-April, while the wider Ischgl ski area is scheduled to remain open until 2 May 2027, benefiting from reliable snow conditions at high altitude.

Decades of Alpine Hospitality and MICHELIN Recognition

Founded in 1976 by Günther and Elisabeth Aloys, Elizabeth Arthotel continues its family legacy under the leadership of their daughter, Mirjam Aloys, and her husband, Markus Pfister. The hotel's commitment to luxury and personalised service was recognised in the MICHELIN Guide's September 2026 announcement, which confirmed its One MICHELIN Key for a second consecutive year.

Beyond its culinary offerings and extensive wine collection, Elizabeth Arthotel maintains an annual art programme, with new exhibitions and installations planned for the 2026/27 winter season. Mirjam Aloys stated that the family's founding wish to provide an exceptional winter experience in Ischgl remains the driving force.

Ischgl's Extensive Winter Events Calendar

The Ischgl ski area provides 239 kilometres of pistes, reaching elevations of 2,872 metres and connecting across the Austrian-Swiss border to Samnaun. This high altitude supports consistent snow from late November into early May. Beyond the slopes, Ischgl hosts a calendar of events throughout the winter.

The Top of the Mountain Opening Concert will launch the season on 28 November, featuring Westlife as the headliner; previous performers have included Elton John and Rihanna. The Ischgl Trophy, a ski event, is scheduled for 2–5 December. From 10–15 January 2027, international artists will create snow sculptures for the "Shapes in White" exhibition.

The "Spring Blanc" series, starting in late March 2027, combines late-season skiing with Alpine food and live music, including the Top of the Mountain Easter and Spring concerts.

Implications for International Ski Travellers

For international travellers, particularly those from Asia seeking premium winter sports destinations, the reopening of Elizabeth Arthotel solidifies Ischgl's appeal as a high-end option in the European Alps.

The combination of a MICHELIN-recognised adults-only hotel, extensive and snow-reliable ski terrain, and a vibrant calendar of concerts and cultural events presents a comprehensive luxury holiday proposition.

While there are no direct flights to Ischgl from Asia, major airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines offer frequent connections from key Asian hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Seoul to European gateway cities, from which onward travel to the Austrian Alps is readily available.

This ensures that Asian travellers can access a diverse and high-quality ski experience for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
