Etihad Airways launches Escapes booking platform
Unveiled at Arabian Travel Market 2026, the digital service launches in October, initially enabling customers to add hotel bookings to their existing flight reservations.

Etihad Escapes Platform Debuts This October
Etihad Airways has introduced Etihad Escapes, a new digital travel platform designed to expand its service offerings beyond air travel. The airline unveiled the platform at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai.
Set to launch in October, Etihad Escapes will initially enable passengers to add hotel accommodation to their existing flight reservations directly through Etihad.com.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, stated that the platform aims to simplify trip planning for guests and build a more comprehensive relationship with them, extending beyond the flight itself. This initial phase focuses on integrating accommodation options to streamline the booking process for travellers.
Phased Expansion Through 2027
The introduction of Etihad Escapes marks the first stage of a broader digital strategy, with significant expansion planned through 2027. Etihad Airways intends to progressively integrate a wider array of travel services, including direct flight bookings, a full range of hotel options, and enhanced loyalty programme functionalities.
Future phases will also extend the platform's capabilities to the Etihad app and deepen its connection with the Etihad Guest loyalty programme. This development shows the airline's ambition to consolidate various travel components into a single digital experience, creating a more personalised and efficient way for customers to manage their travel arrangements.
The goal is to allow customers to search and book hotels independently and combine flights and accommodation through an integrated booking journey.
Key Partnerships Drive Platform Development
To support the development and functionality of Etihad Escapes, Etihad Airways is collaborating with several strategic partners. Expedia Group B2B will supply the platform with hotel inventory, ensuring a wide selection of accommodation options for customers.
Juniper Travel Technology is providing the underlying technology infrastructure, which is crucial for the platform's strong functionality and scalability. Additionally, Miral Destinations joins as a launch partner, connecting Etihad customers with various experiences in Abu Dhabi.
This partnership will also support the creation of travel packages centred around Abu Dhabi's leisure destinations. Etihad plans to add further travel suppliers and partners as the platform develops, aiming to enrich its service offerings.
Commercial Goals and Regional Influence
Etihad Airways views Etihad Escapes as a significant commercial initiative designed to capture a larger share of the global travel market. The airline noted that the global holiday market is valued at approximately USD 2.7 trillion and is forecast to grow at 6.5% through 2030.
By offering comprehensive travel solutions, Etihad aims to increase customer engagement and generate additional revenue beyond flight sales. The platform also supports Etihad's wider network growth strategy and is expected to contribute to increased visitor numbers and destination spending in Abu Dhabi.
For Asian travellers, this development means a more integrated booking experience when flying with Etihad, potentially simplifying multi-destination trips originating from or connecting through Asia.
Other airlines in the Asia-Pacific region may observe Etihad's move towards comprehensive travel platforms, potentially influencing similar moves to diversify revenue streams and enhance customer loyalty.
