Foodservice LGBTQIA+ & Allies Forum Launches for Industry Inclusivity
The new independent body, backed by industry associations, aims to create a welcoming environment for professionals across the global hospitality sector.

New Forum Targets Hospitality Inclusivity
An independent, community-led initiative, the Foodservice LGBTQIA+ & Allies Forum, officially launched on 16 October 2026, aiming to foster a more inclusive future for the hospitality industry. Chaired by Radford Chancellor, the forum seeks to unite LGBTQIA+ individuals, allies, employers, and organisations from across the sector.
Its core mission is to cultivate a welcoming, safe, and equitable professional environment where individuals can develop their careers and forge meaningful connections. This establishment marks a significant step towards addressing diversity and inclusion within the global foodservice landscape.
Community Consultation and Board Leadership
The forum's initial efforts will concentrate on a comprehensive consultation process, inviting input from LGBTQIA+ people, allies, employers, and other members of the hospitality community. This outreach aims to identify the support valued most by the community, pinpoint priority issues, and understand preferences for representation and involvement.
Responses gathered from a questionnaire available on the forum's website will directly inform its first-year programme and long-term strategic development.
The voluntary board comprises Radford Chancellor as founding chair, Isaac Conrad McNamara as vice chair and community lead, Laura Whittle for events and industry engagement, Nicola Rose leading on inclusion and voice, and Hayley Dean managing communications and mental health first aid.
Commitments and Industry Endorsement
The Foodservice LGBTQIA+ & Allies Forum has outlined three fundamental commitments, including ensuring that participation in its community is free for all members.
The initiative has garnered support from two prominent representative bodies within the foodservice equipment industry: the Foodservice Equipment Association (FEA) and the Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA).
Radford Chancellor expressed that the forum is crucial for enabling individuals in foodservice to feel safe, supported, and confident in their authentic selves, drawing from his personal experiences.
He added that by bringing together LGBTQIA+ people and allies, the forum can build connections, offer practical assistance, and educate the industry to cultivate greater understanding and a genuine sense of belonging.
Implications for Asian Hospitality Markets
While the Foodservice LGBTQIA+ & Allies Forum is based in the UK, its emphasis on inclusivity resonates with evolving global standards in the hospitality sector. For Asian markets, this initiative underscores the growing significance of diversity and inclusion policies for attracting and retaining talent, as well as catering to a broad customer base.
Major hotel groups and foodservice providers operating across Asia, particularly in key travel hubs such as Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong, may observe similar community-led movements or adapt their internal policies to align with global best practices in workplace inclusivity.
The forum's findings on effective support mechanisms could provide valuable insights for Asian industry leaders considering similar initiatives to enhance their workforce and guest experiences.
