G6 Hospitality expands Studio 6 Plus brand with five US hotels
The extended stay brand's pipeline now includes 25 properties, with two new-builds in Hartford, Connecticut, starting construction in early 2027.

G6 Hospitality Expands Studio 6 Plus in US Northeast
G6 Hospitality has signed a five-hotel development agreement with Kautilya Group, aiming to expand its newly launched Studio 6 Plus extended stay brand into the US Northeast. This strategic move, detailed in a G6 Hospitality news release, marks a significant step for the brand.
The initial hotels under this agreement are planned for Hartford, Connecticut, with two new-build properties scheduled to commence construction in the first quarter of 2027. G6 Hospitality indicated that additional locations for the remaining three hotels will be disclosed at a later date.
This expansion is designed to address the increasing demand for purpose-built extended stay accommodation across the region.
Accelerating Brand Pipeline and Market Reach
The agreement with Kautilya Group elevates the total pipeline for Studio 6 Plus to 25 hotels, as confirmed by G6 Hospitality. This follows an earlier 18-hotel deal signed in May with Natson Hotel Group, which is introducing the brand to key growth markets including Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida.
Studio 6 Plus was launched approximately one month prior to the May agreement, specifically targeting travellers within the rapidly expanding upper-economy segment. Krishna Paliwal, who was appointed President of midscale and extended stay at G6 in May, leads the company's strategy for this segment, having previously served as an executive at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Design Focused on Extended Stay Needs
Each new Studio 6 Plus property will feature 118 guest rooms, housed within a four-story, interior-corridor design, which G6 Hospitality states was specifically created around the needs of extended stay guests. The rooms are designed to include a full kitchen, ample storage solutions, and functional living spaces.
Digital check-in will also be a central element of the arrival experience, according to the company's release. Gary Patel, CEO of Kautilya Group, commented in a statement that Studio 6 Plus is "well suited" to the demand his group observes in the Northeast region.
Ankit Tandon, G6 Vice Chairman, further emphasised the brand's importance to the company's overall expansion strategy, focusing on creating offerings relevant to today’s guests and compelling for hotel owners.
Implications for Asia's Extended Stay Sector
G6 Hospitality has previously stated its intention to target growth for the Studio 6 Plus brand in areas experiencing strong extended stay demand, particularly those driven by corporate relocations, healthcare facilities, and manufacturing growth.
Industry-wide, markets where data centres are under construction have also emerged as significant opportunities for extended stay developers and owners.
For Asian markets, this US trend suggests that cities such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Hyderabad, which are seeing considerable investment in data centres, manufacturing, and technology-driven corporate expansion, could experience similar growth in their extended stay sectors.
While no specific Asian operators have announced comparable expansions for this brand, the underlying demand drivers are present, indicating a potential for both domestic and international hospitality groups to develop purpose-built extended stay properties in these high-growth Asian hubs within the next 18 to 36 months.
