Highline Hospitality Acquires Dual-Branded AC Hotel and Element San Antonio Riverwalk
Highline Hospitality Partners expanded its portfolio by acquiring the dual-branded AC Hotel and Element San Antonio Riverwalk properties. This move shows ongoing strategic investment in the hospitality sector.

Highline Hospitality Acquires San Antonio Properties
Highline Hospitality Partners (HHP) completed the acquisition of a dual-branded Marriott property in San Antonio, Texas. The Birmingham, Alabama-based investment firm purchased the AC Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk and Element San Antonio Riverwalk. This transaction, announced on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, significantly expands HHP's growing hotel portfolio.
Both properties operate under established Marriott flags, strengthening HHP's presence in key urban markets. Plano, Texas-based Avion Hospitality will assume management responsibilities for the combined hotel. While the financial terms of this acquisition were not publicly disclosed by HHP, the move demonstrates a clear investment strategy.
This purchase also follows a series of other strategic acquisitions made by HHP earlier this year, signalling continued confidence in the hospitality sector.
Property Details and Portfolio Growth
The San Antonio property was converted from an office building in 2022. It comprises a 162-key Element extended-stay hotel, occupying floors seven through twelve. An additional 181-key AC Hotel takes floors thirteen through twenty. The complex features two full-service dining options, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.
It also provides 4,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, a fitness centre, and a business centre.
HHP Managing Partner Chuck Pomerantz stated the hotels “have been institutionally maintained.” HHP Managing Director Jordan Scheiman noted their “strategic location, steps from the Riverwalk in the growing Riverwalk West submarket.” With this acquisition, HHP's portfolio now totals 21 hotels.
These properties represent more than 5,500 guest rooms and approximately $1.7 billion in hospitality assets under management.
Strategic Investment Amid Market Shifts
This acquisition reflects HHP's ongoing investment strategy within the hospitality sector. Earlier this year, HHP acquired the Pittsburgh Marriott North hotel in Pennsylvania, in February. This was followed by the purchase of the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center in Texas and the Westin Poinsett Greenville in South Carolina, both in March.
HHP targets investment opportunities where it can drive value. This includes operational enhancements, strategic capital deployment, and disciplined asset management. The firm is among several hotel investors pursuing deals this year. Industry executives at June's NYU International Hospitality Investment Forum in New York City observed a stabilising debt market. They also cited secular tailwinds that drive confidence in the sector.
Outlook for US Hotel Market Investment
The continued investment by firms like Highline Hospitality Partners reveals a confident outlook for the US hotel market. This trend, marked by strategic acquisitions of established properties, suggests a focus on asset optimisation and growth. Industry stakeholders will observe how these investments influence market consolidation and operational efficiencies across the sector.
The stability in debt markets, coupled with broader travel demand, creates a favourable environment for such transactions. This activity may lead to further portfolio adjustments among major hospitality groups seeking to capitalise on market conditions.
It also highlights specific submarkets, such as San Antonio's Riverwalk West, as areas increasingly attracting investor interest for their potential for sustained returns. Future developments will likely involve continued evaluation of similar opportunities.
