Grand Voyage Set for Early 2027 Launch

The 212-foot schooner Atlantic, described as the largest racing schooner ever recreated, is preparing for a five-year global circumnavigation, known as the Grand Voyage. Organisers of the Atlantic project confirmed the vessel will commence its extensive journey early next year, inviting passengers to join for segments of a minimum seven nights.

This ambitious sailing plan aims to explore diverse regions across the globe, providing an ultra-luxury travel option for those seeking extended maritime exploration.

Itinerary Includes Asia-Pacific Destinations

The initial phase of the Grand Voyage involves crossing the Atlantic Ocean and transiting the Panama Canal. Following this, the schooner will proceed through Central America before venturing into the South Pacific, Australasia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean.

Specific planned stops highlight remote locations, such as secluded islands within the Philippines, the spice-rich coasts of Madagascar, and the ring-shaped atolls of Fakarava. The vessel's route will adjust throughout the year based on seasonal weather patterns and prevailing sea conditions, ensuring varied activities for passengers.

Luxury Onboard and Charter Pricing

The Atlantic provides six luxurious cabins, each with an ensuite, accommodating up to 12 guests alongside a crew of 12. Onboard amenities include a deck area that can be set up as a gym, alongside equipment for water-skiing, diving, snorkelling, and wakeboarding. For shore excursions, a sailing dinghy and bicycles are available.

Meals are crafted from local ingredients sourced during the voyage, with options for dining on deck, onshore picnics, or under the stars.

Private charters for a seven-day 'chapter' of the Grand Voyage are priced from approximately $170,000 for up to 12 guests, covering crew services, all food and beverage, onboard activities, and equipment, with bespoke experiences available at each stop.

Relevance for Asia's Luxury Travel Market

The inclusion of Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean destinations, such as the Philippines and Madagascar, directly positions the Atlantic's Grand Voyage as a notable offering for Asia's high-net-worth travellers.

This ultra-luxury charter option, with its substantial price point and extensive itinerary, caters to a niche segment seeking exclusive, long-duration sailing experiences in the region.

The voyage presents a new high-end product in a market increasingly focused on unique and personalised travel, potentially drawing interest from affluent individuals in Asian hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai, who frequently seek out bespoke maritime adventures.
