Egypt Expansion Underway

Nobu Hospitality is significantly growing its presence in Egypt. The luxury lifestyle brand, co-founded by Robert De Niro, plans three new developments. These projects will incorporate restaurants, hotels, and branded residences. Locations span from Egypt’s Mediterranean coast to Cairo. This move represents a strategic evolution for Nobu Hospitality.

The company collaborates with SODIC, a prominent Egyptian real estate developer. Ayman Amer, SODIC’s general manager, confirmed the partnership. This expansion demonstrates Nobu’s commitment to new markets. The brand aims to broaden its portfolio beyond its restaurant origins. This strategy responds to demand for integrated luxury offerings.

New Locations and Offerings

The expansion includes several key locations. In New Cairo’s Eastown District, a new Nobu restaurant opened this summer. A Nobu Hotel at this site will follow in 2027. On the Mediterranean coast, the Nobu Hotel and Residences North Coast will anchor SODIC’s flagship OGAMI development. OGAMI is a 440-acre coastal project in Ras El Hekma bay.

A seasonal Nobu restaurant has operated on the Mediterranean coast since summer 2025. A third development, comprising a hotel and residences, is planned for New Zayed, west of Cairo. This area is approximately 20 minutes from the Pyramids, Great Sphinx, and Grand Egyptian Museum.

Strategic Brand Evolution

Nobu Hospitality’s expansion into hotels and residences represents an organic growth strategy. Co-founder Robert De Niro observed the brand’s ability to add credibility to projects. This insight led to a model where Nobu participates more broadly in developments. Meir Teper, another co-founder, stated this transformation occurred naturally.

It was not the result of a pre-planned master strategy. The brand’s initial success with restaurants drove requests for its presence in hotels and residential buildings. This led to Nobu developing its own integrated offerings. The company now holds nearly 60 restaurants globally, alongside a growing hotel and residential portfolio.

Market Outlook for Luxury Travel

Nobu CEO Trevor Horwell noted Egypt’s current period of transformation as a key attraction. This suggests a strategic entry into a market with growing luxury tourism potential. The partnership with SODIC was facilitated by Aldar Properties, a major shareholder in SODIC. This collaboration extends Nobu’s presence in the Middle East, following previous projects in Abu Dhabi.

The Egyptian developments show a continued trend of luxury hospitality brands entering emerging destinations. The future openings in New Zayed and on the North Coast will solidify Nobu’s long-term footprint in Egypt. These projects cater to both international travellers and local residents seeking premium experiences.
