SCAT Airlines Launches Singapore to Shymkent Flights via Sanya

New Central Asia Link from Changi

SCAT Airlines, Kazakhstan’s largest privately-held carrier, will commence a new service from Singapore Changi Airport to Shymkent in southern Kazakhstan on 20 October 2026. This route will operate twice weekly, making a stop in Sanya on China’s Hainan Island.

The introduction of this connection re-establishes a direct air link between Changi Airport and Central Asia, a segment that has been absent from Changi’s network since 2019. SCAT Airlines plans to deploy a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for these flights.

The airline will also utilise fifth freedom traffic rights, enabling it to transport passengers not only between Kazakhstan and Singapore but also on the Sanya to Singapore segment.

Transit Procedures and Journey Overview

The complete travel time for the journey between Shymkent and Singapore is estimated at 11.5 hours. This duration includes a flight segment of approximately 6.5 hours from Shymkent to Sanya.

Following this, passengers will undergo a two-hour transit period at Sanya Airport, during which they are required to remain within the airport's designated transit zone without needing to pass through Chinese passport control. The final leg of the trip, from Sanya to Singapore, is expected to take around three hours. This structured itinerary provides a clear pathway for travellers connecting Central Asia with Southeast Asia.
