Stableford, a New Private Golf and Lifestyle Club, Prepares for 2026 Opening in West Los Angeles

Sanjay Mattela and Drake Walker are set to open Stableford, a new private golf and lifestyle club, in West Los Angeles later this year. The 13,000-square-foot facility will feature extensive indoor golf simulators, a large putting green, and wellness suites, aiming to cater to a modern, health-conscious golfing clientele in a market that has seen no new private golf clubs for over five decades.

New Private Golf Club Addresses West Los Angeles Market Gap

Stableford, a new private golf and lifestyle establishment, is scheduled to launch in West Los Angeles during 2026. Co-founders Sanjay Mattela and Drake Walker identified a market deficiency, noting that the Westside of Los Angeles had not seen a new private golf club in more than 50 years, despite the city's high concentration of golfers within California.

Their initiative aims to address this unmet demand with a club designed to integrate sport, wellness, and hospitality. The facility, named after golf's points-based scoring system, is situated along the Brentwood-Santa Monica corridor, occupying 13,000 square feet.

Its design, executed by New York-based Mazzarini & Co., prioritises a residential feel over a conventional sports venue, incorporating a warm colour palette, rich leathers, and comfortable rugs. Stableford states its service model will mirror that of established members' clubs, with its general manager previously recruited from the Bel-Air Country Club.

Advanced Golf Simulation and Coaching Facilities

The golf amenities at Stableford will include eight TrackMan simulator lounges, alongside one of California's largest indoor putting greens. Lucas Wald, the club's director of golf and a swing coach with notable clients, will provide private on-site coaching for members seeking to refine their play.

Drake Walker articulated the club's founding principle, stating that Stableford began by questioning what the best indoor golf visit would entail if conceived with the same meticulousness as a fine hotel or custom residence. He added that while golf forms the club's foundation, the golf visit at Stableford represents a broader lifestyle built around the sport.

Membership is planned to be limited to a few hundred individuals and will be extended by invitation following a review process by the Stableford team. Prospective members may register their interest via the club's website, with a restricted number of founding memberships available, for which pricing is shared directly with applicants.

Comprehensive Wellness and Culinary Offerings

Beyond golf, Stableford will furnish private wellness suites, each equipped with cold plunges crafted in the U.S., traditional Finnish saunas, and large-format red light therapy panels. Yoga equipment, massage tools, and stretching bands will also be accessible.

Sanjay Mattela explained their vision for a golfer who is younger, active, wellness-oriented, and appreciates design, favouring visits that feel refined without being overly formal. The club's food and beverage programme will operate throughout the day, commencing with an espresso and smoothie bar offering daily fresh pastries from local bakeries.

An all-day counter will present a seasonally rotating menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, including poke bowls, sushi, wraps, and sandwiches. In the evenings, a bar will serve cocktails developed by a principal bartender from Employees Only, an established New York City bar.

Cultural Events and Travel Programmes for Members

Stableford's cultural programming will encompass a range of member events, golf leagues, and game nights, alongside culinary visits and destination golf trips to other exclusive clubs. The club's design intends to cater to the full scope of a golfer's life, from morning practice sessions and evening games to post-play socialising.

Mattela conveyed the aim for Stableford to become a premier location in Los Angeles for golf, drinks, and social interaction on any given night, emphasising its construction around the rhythm of a golfer's daily life, not solely the duration of a round. Construction is currently in progress, with the club anticipating its official opening later in 2026.

The introduction of Stableford into West Los Angeles signifies a new high-end option for golf enthusiasts and the luxury travel sector, particularly within a market segment that has observed limited development in private club facilities for over half a century.
