New Boutique Luxury Retreat in Bali's Cultural Heart

Sudamala Resort Ubud will open its doors in October 2026, establishing a new boutique luxury property in Bali. The resort is located on Jalan Suweta, a five-minute drive from Puri Saren Agung, known as the Ubud Royal Palace. This position places guests within reach of Ubud’s art galleries, temples, museums, and artisan communities.

The property comprises 46 accommodations, offering Deluxe Rooms, Suites, and Private Pool Villas. These overlook a serene river valley, providing an intimate alternative to larger properties in the area. Sudamala Resort Ubud aims to serve high-value leisure travellers who seek privacy, personalised service, and a deeper connection to their chosen destination.

Its design draws from the surrounding landscape and culture, incorporating contemporary Balinese architecture and Indonesian craftsmanship. The use of local materials ensures the property reflects its setting.

Culinary and Wellness Offerings Rooted in Local Culture

Beyond accommodation, Sudamala Resort Ubud intends to serve as a gateway into Ubud's living culture. Tambus Restaurant will celebrate Indonesian flavours through a contemporary culinary approach, sourcing ingredients locally and from the resort's own garden.

Two bars, Tirta Bar and Tepian Bar, offer settings for guests throughout the day, with one providing views of the river valley. Both establishments are designed to harmonise with the landscape's rhythms. Wellness forms another central pillar of the resort's offerings.

Sudajiva Spa presents holistic rituals inspired by Indonesian healing traditions, drawing from centuries of local knowledge. These restorative activities are delivered within one of Ubud's naturally tranquil settings.

The river valley location also creates a backdrop for romantic travel, including honeymoons, destination weddings, and private celebrations, addressing a segment important for travel professionals crafting bespoke Bali itineraries.

Sudamala Resorts' Philosophy of Destination Integration

Before welcoming its initial guests, Sudamala Resort Ubud observed the Melaspas, a sacred Balinese purification ceremony. This ritual blesses a new property and honours the land's spirits. This detail demonstrates Sudamala Resorts' operational philosophy.

Since its founding in 2011, each property within the collection has been developed with its destination, not merely within it. This approach involves respecting local traditions, engaging communities, and reflecting the distinctive character of its surroundings. The Ubud property follows this principle.

The opening also adds a significant chapter to "An Indonesian Odyssey," the brand's overarching narrative. This initiative encourages travellers to view Indonesia as a collection of individual places, each possessing its own culture, landscape, and identity, rather than a single destination.

Portfolio Expansion Drives Multi-Destination Travel Opportunities

The addition of Sudamala Resort Ubud expands Sudamala Resorts' Indonesian portfolio. The brand's collection now includes Sudamala Resort Sanur in Bali, known for coastal village charm, and Sudamala Resort Senggigi in Lombok, offering beachfront serenity.

Further properties include Sudamala Resort Seraya in Flores, providing remote island luxury, and Sudamala Resort Komodo, also in Flores, serving as a gateway to Komodo National Park and diving locations. For travel professionals, this expanded portfolio creates a multi-destination itinerary framework, spanning Bali, Lombok, and Flores.

This framework appeals to affluent travellers seeking immersive and curated Indonesian travel experiences that extend beyond conventional offerings. Sudamala Resort Ubud is currently accepting reservations.
