Wyndham and Barclays Modernise Card Offerings

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, collaborating with Barclays, refreshed its co-branded credit card portfolio in June. This initiative introduced four new Wyndham Rewards cards. The updated range aims to cater to diverse traveller needs. It includes options for casual guests and frequent visitors alike. Business owners also have a dedicated card.

Each new card features distinct annual fees and associated benefits. This move demonstrates Wyndham's commitment to enhancing its loyalty programme. It also seeks to broaden its appeal across various market segments.

Earner and Earner Plus Cards Detailed

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Card carries no annual fee. It suits guests who stay with Wyndham infrequently. Cardholders gain automatic Gold status. Benefits include preferred room selection and late checkout where available. Points accrue on Wyndham stays, fuel, electric vehicle charging, groceries, and dining purchases. The Earner Plus Card has a £95 annual fee.

It targets travellers who stay multiple times yearly. This card offers Diamond status initially, then Platinum. It provides 15,000 bonus points each anniversary. A free night certificate is available after five annual stays. Up to £25 in meal delivery credits apply every six months. Spending on travel, dining, and groceries also earns points.

Earner Premier and Business Card Features

The Earner Premier Card has a £395 annual fee. This card is for travellers who can maximise statement credits. It offers up to £120 annually for food delivery services. £100 in streaming service credits are also available. A £65 credit applies to wholesale club memberships. Cardholders receive £100 for spending at least £100 at Wyndham hotels.

These credits collectively offset much of the annual fee. The Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card costs £149 annually. It targets business owners. Its bonus categories align with typical business expenses. This structure helps businesses accrue points on operational spending.

Market Implications and Outlook

Wyndham's updated card offerings demonstrate a focus on customer segmentation. The range addresses diverse travel patterns and spending habits. This move strengthens the Wyndham Rewards loyalty ecosystem. It provides clear value propositions for different traveller tiers. The new cards could drive increased engagement with Wyndham properties.

They may also attract new members to the loyalty programme. Industry observers will monitor how these cards affect competitor programmes. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to capture market share through loyalty incentives. It shows a strategic approach to consumer and business travel spending.
