Jakarta Promotes Tourism and MICE Sector at ITB Asia 2026
The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency led a 17-member delegation to Singapore, seeking to expand international networks and partnerships for its travel and events sectors.

Jakarta's Presence at ITB Asia
The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency participated in ITB Asia 2026, held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore from 21 to 23 October 2026. This engagement served to promote Jakarta's tourism sector and its meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry.
The delegation comprised 17 representatives from Jakarta's tourism sector, including businesses focused on wellness, hospitality, travel services, tourism associations, and destination management. ITB Asia functions as a business-to-business platform, enabling industry stakeholders to forge connections and explore commercial prospects within the global tourism landscape.
Strategic Goals for International Growth
Jakarta's participation aimed to broaden its international business networks, cultivate strategic alliances, and solidify its standing as a key tourism and MICE destination across Southeast Asia.
Mr. Andhika Permata, Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, stated on 21 October that the event provided valuable avenues to promote the city while expanding its business reach and enhancing its competitiveness in international markets.
He further noted that Jakarta's ongoing evolution into a global city requires a robust tourism and creative economy sector, which acts as a significant contributor to the city's economic expansion, according to the agency.
Diverse Offerings and Industry Support
Mr. Permata highlighted Jakarta's blend of modern urban development with historical heritage, cultural diversity, and community creativity. He added that the city is actively developing its tourism products beyond its conventional role as a transit point.
As Jakarta approaches its 500th anniversary, the agency aims to showcase its long history as a foundation for future progress as a competitive global city through the development of urban, cultural, and marine tourism, alongside strengthening the MICE industry.
The delegation included seven Jakarta hotels, four tour operators, two tourism associations, two destination management companies, one wellness business, and two specific destinations. Notable participants included Sari Pacific Jakarta, Pullman Jakarta Central Park, Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, Taman Safari Indonesia, and the PIK Tourism Board.
Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration also supported the initiative by offering immigration information to international visitors regarding travel requirements for Indonesia, particularly Jakarta.
Outlook for Jakarta's Tourism Sector
The agency's efforts at ITB Asia are designed to attract investment, generate new business opportunities, and ultimately increase international tourist arrivals in Jakarta. Ms. Lucky Wulandari, Head of Marketing and Attractions at the agency, noted the event's importance for establishing links with global tourism businesses.
Ms. Ervienia Oryza, Head of the agency's Overseas Tourism Marketing Subgroup, confirmed that the participation reflects the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to expanding international tourism partnerships and developing the city's position as a premier destination for both leisure travellers and MICE events.
This strategic push is expected to yield new routes and packages from Asian tour operators and airlines, targeting Jakarta’s diversified offerings, with an observable increase in promotional activities and direct flight capacities over the next 12 to 18 months.
