Meliá Collection to Debut in Vietnam with Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne
Meliá Hotels International plans to launch its Meliá Collection luxury brand in Vietnam by 2029, with the Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne resort. This development marks the brand's first establishment in the country and expands Meliá's portfolio in the Southeast Asian nation.

Meliá Collection Set for Vietnam Entry in 2029
Meliá Hotels International will introduce its Meliá Collection luxury brand to Vietnam, following the agreement for Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne. This beachfront resort is scheduled to commence operations in 2029, marking the Meliá Collection’s inaugural property in Vietnam. The development proceeds in collaboration with Nam Chau Tourism JSC, as reported by TTG Asia on 31 July 2026. The property will feature 187 keys, comprising 156 guestrooms and 31 villas. This strategic expansion signals Meliá’s intent to broaden its high-end brand footprint within the Vietnamese hospitality sector, adding to its existing operations and pipeline of hotels across the country. The partnership with Nam Chau Tourism JSC also represents a new local collaboration for Meliá in Vietnam, aligning with its growth strategy through regional alliances.
Design and Amenities of Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne
Situated directly on Mui Ne’s coast, the Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne’s design envisions a coastal sanctuary. The architectural concept integrates natural airflow and sustainable construction materials, drawing inspiration from the local sand dunes and the marine environment. The resort will provide a range of amenities for guests. These include two distinct dining venues, a dedicated spa facility, and a fitness centre. For corporate and social gatherings, meeting spaces will be available. Families travelling with children will find a kids' club, alongside an outdoor swimming pool for recreation. This comprehensive array of facilities aims to cater to diverse traveller needs, from leisure stays to business functions, within its environmentally conscious design framework.
Meliá's Expanding Presence in Vietnam
The addition of Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne will expand Meliá Hotels International’s brand presence in Vietnam to five distinct marques. Meliá currently manages 22 hotels across the country, with an additional six properties under development. This consistent growth demonstrates Meliá’s commitment to the Vietnamese market. The collaboration with Nam Chau Tourism JSC for Ocaria Retreat Mui Ne also signifies Meliá’s initial partnership with this specific Vietnamese developer. This approach reflects the group’s ongoing strategy of growth through alliances with local companies, which often provides deeper market insight and facilitates project execution within the region. The expansion reinforces Vietnam’s position as a key market for Meliá in Southeast Asia.
Mui Ne's Evolving Appeal for Travellers
Mui Ne is recognised for its beaches, distinctive red sand dunes, and a local fishing village, drawing visitors seeking coastal relaxation and unique landscapes. The destination is currently accessible via a three-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, utilising the Long Thanh-Dau Giay-Phan Thiet Expressway. Access to the area is projected to enhance significantly with the forthcoming activation of Phan Thiet Airport, which will likely reduce travel times and increase visitor numbers. The entry of a luxury brand like Meliá Collection to Mui Ne reflects growing confidence in Vietnam’s luxury tourism sector, particularly in coastal areas beyond established hubs. This development, supported by improved infrastructure, suggests a strategic move to diversify high-end travel options for both international and domestic markets across Southeast Asia. It demonstrates Meliá's commitment to expanding its brand presence in the region through targeted local partnerships, potentially driving further investment in Vietnam's hospitality landscape.
