Robb Report Crowns Delta Top US Carrier

Delta Air Lines has been awarded the title of 'Best Domestic Airline' in Robb Report’s inaugural Airline Awards, which were published on 22 October 2026.

The luxury lifestyle publication’s editors, alongside its RR1 members and a network of five-star travel specialists known as Travel Masters, evaluated global carriers based on criteria including consistent service, on-time performance, and premium cabin amenities.

This new annual accolade aims to identify airlines that demonstrate excellence in hospitality and operational efficiency, setting benchmarks for the industry worldwide. The recognition highlights Delta's commitment to delivering a high-quality travel product across its domestic network.

Service Excellence and Punctuality Recognised

The Atlanta-based carrier earned its distinction through several key factors. Robb Report noted Delta’s leading on-time performance among its competitors and its modern aircraft fleet. The airline was also commended for its consistently high service quality, with specific praise for its attentiveness to customer needs during flight delays or cancellations.

This focus on passenger care reportedly sets it apart from other carriers. Furthermore, industry watcher Cirium ranks Delta as the sole US airline within its global top 10, indicating a strong international standing that complements its domestic leadership in service and reliability.

Luxury Offerings and 2027 Enhancements

Delta's premium cabin experience was particularly highlighted as a major contributor to its award. The airline’s sliding-door suites were cited as setting an industry standard for luxury and privacy, both on the ground and in the air. Its forward-thinking partnership with PS private terminals was also recognised for enhancing the high-end travel experience.

Looking ahead, Delta plans to introduce an expanded in-flight service rolling out early next year, in 2027. These enhancements will include a refined culinary programme featuring items such as Wagyu beef burgers and Blanton’s bourbon, along with playful dessert options like Champagne-doused sorbet and branded tableware.

Global Service Standards and Asian Carriers

While Robb Report’s 'Best Domestic Airline' award specifically honours a US carrier, the criteria for excellence, such as consistent service and premium cabin innovation, resonate across the global travel industry.

Asian airlines frequently set the benchmark in these areas, with carriers like Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and ANA consistently featuring in global top-tier rankings for their luxury products and customer service.

Delta’s recognition as the only US airline in Cirium’s global top 10 suggests that many of these other leading carriers are international, including those from Asia.

This competitive landscape drives all airlines to innovate, ensuring that Asian travellers, accustomed to high standards from regional operators, can anticipate similar levels of quality when flying with globally recognised carriers like Delta on international routes.
