Hyatt Luxury Demand Drives Q3 RevPAR Growth Beyond Forecasts
Hyatt Hotels reported a 7.2% systemwide RevPAR increase for the third quarter of 2026, alongside a 12.1% expansion in its development pipeline, exceeding earlier expectations.

Strong Q3 Performance Exceeds Forecasts
Hyatt Hotels announced its third-quarter 2026 earnings on 29 October 2026, revealing a 7.2% year-over-year increase in systemwide Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). This performance surpassed the company's own forecasts, driven significantly by its luxury segment.
In the United States, RevPAR growth was even stronger, climbing 8.2% compared to the previous year, as stated by CEO Mark Hoplamazian. The company also raised its full-year 2026 RevPAR growth outlook to a range of between 5% and 5.5%, reflecting sustained momentum across all customer categories.
This upward revision indicates confidence in continued strong demand for Hyatt's offerings through the end of the current year.
Robust Development Pipeline Expands Global Footprint
The third quarter of 2026 was marked by what Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian described as “exceptionally strong development activity.” The hotel group's development pipeline expanded by 12.1% year-over-year, reaching a record approximately 158,000 rooms.
This growth reflects a significant increase in new projects, with the company signing 70% more deals year-to-date compared to last year, and construction starts rising over 40%. Hyatt anticipates that more than half of its scheduled openings for the entire year will occur in the fourth quarter.
While the company sees substantial opportunities for brand expansion within the U.S., including the upcoming Hyatt Regency San Diego Mission Valley, its global strategy continues to prioritise growth across its diverse brand portfolio, from luxury to essential offerings.
Luxury Demand and Strategic Partnerships Drive Growth
Hyatt attributed its strong third-quarter performance to sustained demand from high-end travellers and the consistent strength of its luxury portfolio. CEO Mark Hoplamazian noted that average rates increased across all brand categories, accounting for nearly 80% of the RevPAR growth during the quarter.
The company also benefited from specific events, such as the FIFA World Cup in July and the timing of Jewish holidays in September. Beyond leisure and group travel, business transient RevPAR also saw modest gains.
Strategic initiatives, including a new long-term loyalty collaboration with Delta Air Lines, further strengthened Hyatt’s market position by connecting with members beyond their hotel stays. The appointment of Amar Lalvani as Chief Creative Officer also underscores Hyatt's focus on brand strategy.
Asian Markets Poised for Increased Luxury Focus
Hyatt’s global emphasis on luxury and lifestyle brands, coupled with its expanded development pipeline, suggests a similar strategic direction for its Asian portfolio.
While the reported growth drivers for Q3 2026 were largely North American events, the company's global commitment to premium offerings and loyalty programmes could see increased investment and brand expansion in key Asian markets, such as China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, in the coming quarters.
This strategy aims to capture the growing demand from affluent travellers within the region and those visiting from other global markets. Asian industry players may observe Hyatt continuing to enhance its luxury footprint and loyalty offerings to compete for high-value guests in a dynamic and expanding travel landscape.
